I am new to riding fixed and am loving it, but i have a question!I have several bmx flip flop hubs, and was wondering if i can use these in my fixed wheel builds? Alot of the fixed bikes i see have track hubs, are they essential?

no bmx hubs are fine, you just cant put a left threaded lockring on them, but you can use them if you need to.

even if they are flip flop race hubs?

Just to clarify this point (for my own sake). You can use them for the rear but only as a freewheel.

Also you need to be sure that the width between the dropouts matches the hub width. you can sometimes squeeze or stretch a mm or two if needed but its not ideal.

They may be too wide for the front - is that what you meant? Use a rear hub as a front?

the bmx "standard" is 120mm in the back, which everyone seems to stick to - except profile that is, who made hubs with 124mm for decades until early this year..

but as tallsam says, you'd only be able to use it with a freewheel or as a suicide hub, which most people consider a bad idea..
