You don't rally need any qualifications most shops will just have you in for a trial day to see if your up to speed n have the right skills.
It's pretty poor pay though as is any bike shop salary.

i don't know if it's this way over here, but in the US if you work at a bike shop you're either a mechanic or a salesperson, and usually the mechanic rarely deals with people.
