peejay78 cafe is by the fountain...
in the first half of the park.
\we can make it the beigel shop if everyone prefers...
I will be coming from Clapton, so it is no real bother to go to Victoria park, or down to the Beigel shop - its your call.

To all those going to clapham common - lets meet by the long pond!

i'm still voting for the park. little grassy spot right next to the cafe by the little lake/fountain (not the bench side were the drinky men sit-- the other side).

Is there gonna be a meet up at the actual freewheel thing?
-
• #256
i hope so! I dont actually know the route or where the freewheel thing is though.
-
• #257
ok park it is, bring a bag, everyone, that way we can snaffle a schnauzer and show it the joys of fixed.
11am.
to the right of the cafe, away from the wreckheads... lookout for the rad bikes.

hippy Is there gonna be a meet up at the actual freewheel thing?
Yeah I live central & the mrs is working, so I'm a free man.

(Hyde park crnr maybe, what ever) -

So that was that.
I had a wicked day, that was so enjoyable, weaving in amongst the families. Saw some people on fixed who I went past and they laughed at me and said 'it's not like its a race'. But wheres the fun in car-free London streets at 3 mph?

Jake But wheres the fun in car-free London streets at 3 mph?
I enjoyed it because I got my gf on a bike ride with me.

I'm with Stompy.. my lass was well chuffed with her ride and so she should be! Made it in from Ealing with the big LCC bunch and then feeder from Ravenscourt Park.
Her and I rode all the way back along Uxbridge Rd.Saw Stompy, MA3K (that Cove is wrong! :)) then bailed to actually do the loop.
Object17, Smeear, Rosie, winston (running the rollers with caspar).Spotted lots of other fixes and singles.. Pompino, GB, Brian Rourke, a girl on a green frame + pink deep-v's, the white IRO with orange deepv and orange tyres, London Wrongster, some Surlys, lots more..

i saw a charge plug for the first time. the guy said it cost £400. that seemed very very cheap.

I had a great time, just realising how quick the Embankment is with no cars, just what i needed to blow away the fog in my head!!

Hippy seems to be the only person we didn't get a picture of on the rollers!....I think the camera must have broke!

• #265
or you didn't have a wide angle lens :^{ ] }

millierider, where were you- me and asm wandered around aimlessly for a while. (join the thursday night ride!)
asm- about thursday- Vauxhall Station Cricket ground side 8:30?
It was ok today, my ride home was hilarious- and those little kids in their lycra: " daddy, daddy can we go faster next time" in a chelsea/surrey accents, on their overly nice diminuitively sized racing bikes, whatever happened to having foam tyres and stuff?

Props to the XC-er who spazzed out on the rollers and dismounted proclaiming "I'd have been faster but it needed some gears"
And a big fuck off to the rest of the suspension massive racing each other on the Embankment and beyond taking people out with clips to their bars.

MA3K: It's those aerodynamic modifications you've made to a perfectly good mtb that make me cringe.. ;)
-
• #271
Haven't you ever heard of downforce?
Florence helps me with super-tight cornering - her weight distribution is par excellence.

LIke a sidecar but with width more suited to London traffic dodging? :)
-
• #273
Exactly

i had fun. it was nice to see that many people out on bikes, though i don't know if i'd be able to deal with that amount of bikes on a daily level, just because of the sheer congestion.
hippy, i saw the girl on the lime green and pink fixed gear...it seemed rather ill-suited for her.
my picture was taken on the rollers at some point.
yeah.. looks like i'll be coming into paddington.
