Just be a bit careful when drawing comparisons between the old style tubes (up to the early 90's) like 531 or SL and the more modern stuff like columbus spirit for lugs or reynolds 953(stainless). Really different steels and gauges. Steel bikes today are on average far better than they were 20-30years ago. (of course the same could be said for all other materials too.) Just because they are built from "old fashioned" steel doesn't mean the R&D stopped 30 years ago.
Todd: Great resource for buying 2nd handers. Anyone got the same sort of thing for old reynolds?
