rideordie its a 5 speed and only has one chain ring on the front. Would that mean that it is likely to be 42mm? If that is the case then i will probably chose the easy option of keeping the origional cranks on it as i quite like the oldschool feel.

Yeah I would agree with dogsballs my grilfriends bike is an old 5 speed and seems to have a 42 mm chainline.
