Bump for evening peeps

Its purdy. Not a fan of the stubby left brake lever mount though, get that sorted!

tallsam you must be joking. It's a period piece...
I'm not that keen on it either to be honest but its a classic bike. You don't fuck with it for the sake of looks or comfort...Agreed. I'd like to buy you a beer if we ever met.
That's a beautiful and very functional classic. -

Nylon toe straps!?

tallsam Also I'm not a fan of when ppl have 2 brake levers and only one brake.
Them's fightin' words beeatch! :P
I'd remove that stub until I had something 'period' to fit to it. But then I don't care much for restorations so I'd fit pink deep veeeeez and a carbon SLR.. ;)

That stub IS period - isn't that the whole point?
I saw a similar one on a 'Flying Gate' owned by a guy with a period-correct 'tache.. so it must be accurate... -

Should remove it or fit the full lever. -

There were purpose made 'stubbies' and that looks like one...
-
• #12
What are they for then? I don't get it..
-
• #13
riding on "the hoods" when you don't want/need the brake lever.
AND the rear bars on tandems! -
• #14
Err.. ouch? Looks frickin' uncomfortable. May as well fit a lever. Silly old bikes. :)
The frame itself looks great. -
• #15
Really? I thought that was just a lever with the hood peeled off.
Cane creek make some nice dummy levers, I was considering one for the fixie
-
• #16
you can get dummy hoods
they seem to cost more than a set of levers though!

They may look uncomfortable, but 9 out of 10 cats would choose a nice hard shiny knob over a floppy rubbery hood...

My cat must be the 1.

My innuendos clearly need more work - but I think I successfully lowered the tone -
Before: appreciation/discussion of a really pretty vintage fixed wheel. After: general confusion, mental discomfort and thread-death.
I love the colour! -
• #23
Escaped my attention that one. I was taking the mick coz you said "cats" :)
-
• #24
aww, does that mean we can't call you "The Stubbie"?
-
• #25
Just so you know, a "stubbie" in Oz is a beer bottle. Given my Aussieness and beer intake that could actually be quite an appropriate nickname! :)
Buuuut.. I'll keep the hippy for now :)
