(Shimano 105 and a Cane Creek cross-top lever) Time ATAC pedals and a rear wheel!
-
• #6
cross top lever (specialized and tektro and cane creek do them) and a reasonable dual-pivot caliper brake.
and your legs.

If you don't want to spend a lot of money, take a look at Tektro stuff. Cheap as chips, and pretty decent quality stuff. I use campag-copyright-infringement style r200 levers and 521ag long reach callipers. They were cheeeeeaaaaaaaap but look at the sexy quality

peejay78 105 and diatech goldfinger.
goldfinger sounds good " an ejecter seat youv'e got to be kidding "

i use one of those tektro levers as i preferred the shape to shimano's, a cane creek carbon crosstop (tektro do cheaper version) and a dura-ace caliper.
they all work well and i can't see the point in changing. -

I use a shimano 105 caliper and a diaTech goldfinger, brake at the front. I´m riding single speed so thats all the braking i can do, but works really good. Better than I expected to be honest. Also, the goldfinger is a one finger lever, but i tend to use my long finger that gives me a bit more power

I've got a 105 and one of the Cane Creek levers. Tried a few BMX levers but they were all too small.
-
• #19
if the cane creek is too expensive for you then tektro and specialized do cross levers. as do salsa but they are nice drilled jobbies so probably cane creek prices?

Nice thread. Just what I'm planning to put on my new Langster (my first fixed gear). I'm gonna go for a Diatech Gold finger, keep the existing OTP fron brake, remove the rear brake now my legs are up to stopping the bike (I even did my first skid today, followed by continous skidding all the way home!!) and fit a profile design air wing. I mist say I'm a bit dissapointed that i wont be using the holes in the horns to thread the brake cable through. But I'll get over it as actually using the brakes is happening less and less. Happy days :)

did someone say 2 fingers?

Goldfinger/Tektro caliper.
-
• #24
tektro R200A levers + ultegra calliper + salmon kool stops & jagwire cable/housing.
-
• #25
+1 to Kool Stops. You stop faster, especially in the wet, and your rims don't die so quickly. What's not to like?
totally novice question. but what do people think the best brake set up is, parts etc.
