If you buy nicked, vigilantes will grab it off you and wrap it around your skewed morality.
-
• #3
How do you know they are nicked?
-
• #4
your probably right, it's not worth it to risk it.
best not.
-
• #5
You know that they're nicked because they're being sold on Brick Lane!
-
• #6
I thought there were some legit traders there...i must have been mistaken.

There are some legit traders.... If they have a stall then they are legit. Also, as of a few months ago, if they are on the bridge selling on sheets and the pavement they are also legit as it is now called the "Flea Market" and is fully managed by market authorities. The guys selling £3000 bikes for £60 on street corners are selling nicked bikes! It's quite easy to tell the difference.

Yes, I was exaggerating, thanks for the precise info, Jon

I thought they were British Cycling reps, drafted in by the GLA, in the hope that such a philanthropic gesture might help the next Bradley Wiggins to rise up from the ranks of the proletariat. I must have been mistaken.

Buying a stolen bike is slightly different to buying a stolen frame, because nobody sells stolen frames.
-
• #11
they sell what they can steal, someone stole the brake calipers from my bike last night, and im sure they will be on sale tomorow. if they can steal only the frame then thats what they will steal.

Recycling looks very dodgy. They also ask absurdly high prices for some of the tetanus'y old wrecks they sell there.

There are codes of conduct, even amongst tea leaves.

I've been down to Bricklane for the past two Sundays - I'm living in hope that I might get my stolen bike back. It makes me sick seeing people down there buying stolen frames and parts
