FS: 56cm Bottechia frame in columbus

  • Bought this by accident on e-bay last week, but got too many bikes (will have a nice fixed raleigh cruiser available soon as well). would make an awesome fixed conversion.

    E-bay blurb
"For sale, lovely Italian Bottecchia road frame.22 1/2" (57cm) seat tube,22" (56cm) top tube, made with Columbus SX steel tubing and Cinelli lug work, columbus fork ends. It takes 27.2mm sized seat pillar, finished in bright red with correct transfers. There are gear lever bosses on down tube;two sets of bottlecage bosses;front derailleur bracket; internal brake tube for rear brake and pump peg on back of head tube. The rear fork width is 130mm but a good reputable frame builder should be able to widen it to 135mm.It also is built to take allen bolt fitting brakes Comes with brand New Campagnolo Mirage headset & bottom bracket. Frame number is 7699 on bottom bracket. There are some slight scratches due to shop storage."

only thing to add is that it has been recently resprayed (not by me), and by the looks of it the lugs are chromed and perhaps the frame (not 100% sure. it looks like it has never seen wheels or had a seat in the post, as well. I paid £195 in total, so am putting it up for that (or offers or). Remember a frame like this is £400 in BLB. Might be interested in a trade if someone has a nice vintage track frame similar size.

got more pics if interested. get whisper or send me an e-mail (see my details).
    dale

  • that's a nice frame - why have you decided not to build it up? i note your pista is on the bay as well.

i would be interested in this but need to sell my daccordi slx frame first and i am being well slack at the mo

  • i'd love to but i've got too many bikes see pic (got lovely comfy dawes and a 60's holdsworth that has the white stuff on it) :( . the bianchi is nice, but didn't like the forks or the cranks, so instead of swapping that out, i might as well sell while i can get a good return. if you are seriously interested i can hold to it. otherwise it's going to ebay. also got the red cinelli alter stem for sale ;)

  • yeah i saw the Dawes in the other thread. v relaxed and sweet. reminds me of an old grass track racing frame I was riding last winter.

i would love to say i am serious about the Bottechia but similar problem to you and trying to rationalise. it's always hard when a real nice from comes along. hope you get a good price for it on the bay.

  • oh, and my daccordi is 130OLN and i have been using a 135 Kogswell hub in it no problem. just spring the stays a bit. i will be sticking that wheel on the bay also

  • that's cool. if i get no offers on weekend it will go on ebay on monday.

  • Hi- How much do you want for this? Looks like just waht I'm looking for...

  • sorry just seen the price at £195- silly me. Will watch with interet on ebay!

  • ah you need a female flatmate, you'd never have bought that many bikes! :P
