well i am no expert. like i said i am happy with it cos it kept my frame alive. as for a bodge? well, i took the frame into Ross at Brixton Cycles when i realised the split was forming. he said it was definitely saveable but he was too busy to get the work done straight away (like the rest of you i want things done like yesterday) and said try vaz. vaz had done the paintjob for me six months earlier and he's a likeable chap.
i popped into see Ross a couple of weeks after getting the job done. his expression told me it looked like a bit of a botch job.
but then putting on new track ends is a much easier job. good luck dude
