If you owe allegiance to anybody it would be Pierre and Ernest Michaux, Pierre Lallement, Baron Karl von Drais de Sauerbrun, and Ernest Michaux.
(And most messengers aren't legetimate riders much less fixed-riders. Hell, some aren't even legitimate!)
