You can't do it in a washing machine, you need to dye it in a special industrial bath at a really high heat.

yeah, listen to hippy. just this once.

it is a gamble on how long the paint will last, though i've used acrylics on washable fabrics which lasted years before cracking, even after being tumble dried, so your odds are decent, but
those bags aren't too expensive, and once you buy all the paint and stuff, feh... may as well drop the extra ten quid and get the ready-to-use bag.

Finally got my postbag last week after about two months of waiting from our postie at work. At the weekend I sewed my new patch onto it and took it for a test ride to sainsburys a couple of miles doen the road. Waiting in the queue at the checkout I heard a tiny voice talking to her dad. "Dad, why is that postman in here? shouldn't he be at work?" First outing. Still, it looks and performs pretty well, and I'd been after a second bag since I got the old kremlin, and wanted something a bit smaller. Might have to replace that strap with a seatbelt and d-ring, oh, and put a stabiliser strap in there too.

postie bags are sweet, especially if you tweak them a bit... mine became surprisingly comfy after i added a stabilizer strap and a nice fat shoulder strap....

Smaller!!! I only use mine when I have load to carry. I find them massive, hence I don't like mine as I only use it with big / alkward / heavy loads, hence it will never be comfy.

depends on how much you'll be using it i suppose though i would recommend at least adding a stabilizer strap....
