Nice wheels for sale

Posted on
  • I've got two pairs of track wheels that I want to sell. They're all quality bits and bobs.

Pair 1 - Campy Super Record High Flange hubs (single fixed rear) laced to silver Campy Atlanta 96 clincher rims, 36 holes, DB spokes. These are an amazing set of wheels - hubs are in great condition and come with track nuts, but no lockring. The rims are Campy's deep section aluminium rims - like Deep Vs but with classy Italian heritage. Only ever used on the track so no brake marks at all. These will look great and are tough as nails. Looking for £170.

Pair 2 - old DA high flange hubs (look similar to Campy Super Record with the cut out flanges) laced to dark grey anodised Mavic Gel 280 tubular rims, 32 DB spokes. These are a beautiful lightweight set of track wheels and would be great on a retro machine as they are the pinnacle of 80s racing technology. Only used on the track so no brake marks on the rims. The hubs are in good nick. Only problem is that one of the wheels needs to be trued. I've just moved house so haven't got time to sort it out. Looking for £100.

Photos of the DA set are here http://www.flickr.com/photos/fix_momentum and I'll get some of the Camp set tonight.

    Whisper if you're interested.

  • geesh are you 7ft tall, that viscount (very lovely btw) is friggin huge and with a 3 ft seat post???

  • hmmmmm... I'll wait for pics of the campy wheelset, but I'm hereby reserving my spot on the queue!

  • dogsballs geesh are you 7ft tall, that viscount (very lovely btw) is friggin huge and with a 3 ft seat post???

Haha - I'm 6'4" and mostly legs. The Viscount was lovely but too small so now I ride the black Eddy Merckx that's first on the flickr page and this metal horse that's further down

unxetas hmmmmm... I'll wait for pics of the campy wheelset, but I'm hereby reserving my spot on the queue!

Cool - I'll get photos up as soon as I can and post in this thread when I do.

  • that is the biggest frame i've ever ever seen!!! you must have fun finding trousers.

  • dogsballs that is the biggest frame i've ever ever seen!!! you must have fun finding trousers.

It was the bane of my life - now I go to H&M who cater for leggy swedes

  • got any single sisters in london ;)

  • Photos of the Campy wheelset are now up here http://www.flickr.com/photos/fix_momentum/

No photos of any sisters though

  • Mmm.. campy... mmm.. Dura-ace.... rrrrhgghhg...

Whould be a shame to break up the D-Ace wheelset, but tubs means this would definately be a weekend/track ride thing.. I like the hubs though.

Momentum - if you ever get bored of any of your frames you know I'm in the queue! 'Rainbow-Rourke' is a bit cramped but great for the streets..

Those Atlantas are sweet - but I'm just now building up a wheelset (gonna re-lace that hub to a cxp22 to match the front) and they might be a bit stiff for the street - but I keep seeing those classic rims (campyoldy + freshtripe) for £35+ each and thinking mmm... niice. I would be gutted when I kerbed / dinked them though! ( notice WHEN not IF )

I am slightly disappointed that your collection is dwindling - you have an attic!?

  • hmmm.. tough one! I'd love those rims, but I think the hubs are a bit too much.. I think I'll have to pass, reluctantly..

  • is the DA set still available - i could be interested

  • Just wanted to check are the campy atlanta rims clincher or tubs? I might be interested if I could sell my existing Shamal tub wheelset? so many decisions

  • "Pair 1 - Campy Super Record High Flange hubs (single fixed rear) laced to silver Campy Atlanta 96 clincher rims"

  • Cheers, got a bit confused. Sealed or unsealed hubs?

  • mmm they are cup-and-cone Hubs - I think not 'sealed' as such.. Check it:

Momentum are those D-A cranks for sale? :-)

Yes they are and I realised that I can add some tubs in too as I won;t need them once I get rid of the wheels.

[cite]Offwhite:[/cite]Cheers, got a bit confused. Sealed or unsealed hubs?

As Provenrad said they're loose ball bearings (i.e. cup and cone) so they're not sealed as such. However, the dustcaps (just inside the lockring threads) do a good job of shielding the bearings from the worst grime. The hubs also have a grease hole in the middle so you can pump fresh grease in and that reduces the necessity for overhauls by a lot.

    No worries dude

Went to Trampsparadise quite a while ago - they were a lovely bit of 151bcd goodness! Collection is dwindling cos I realised that I have five track wheelsets and only two track bikes. They;ve already been in the attic for a while so I'd rather they got some use. Plus I can use the money on coke and hookers.

  • Great, can i come around and check them out, saturday would be best for me...

    Where d'you live?

  • Why not ride the campy wheelset?

What's on the Merckx at the moment?

We need drinks sometime soon. Sometime this week?

Jesus I'm full of questions today!

  • i'd be interested in 'a' wheelset. Maybe not for £170 though. What are the others?

Sure can - I'm kinda busy on Saturday til about 6 or so but you can come round after that if it suits you. I live in Brixton.

Haha. In order, the answers are: because I'm happy with the wheels I'm using, which are the black combo (Goldtec/CXP33 rear, Mavic Cosmic Elite front) and I can't be bothered to swap wheels around. Might try them for a while though and then decide whether to ebay them. Drinks are defintiely part of the plan although I'm pretty busy at the moment cos I just moved house (up the road). I'll give you a call to sort it out

JOL i'd be interested in 'a' wheelset. Maybe not for £170 though. What are the others?

The other one I will get rid of is half built at the moment. DA7600 28 hole hubs laced to one Velocity Aerohead and one Weinmann rim, which I need to swap for an Aerohead when I have the time. It's gonna be a beautiful light wheelset but not the strongest so best for people who take it easy in their kit or are farily light. I'm hoping to get around £130 or so for that set.
