  • Elvis i'm sure he'll be keeping it...

can you have too many bikes??

Actually, I can. The flat is full and I cannot accommodate another bike yet have a need unfulfilled by my current stable.

I'll never sell the Serrota, it is too perfect for me.
The BMX is way too much fun and I use it too often.

I've mentioned a few times that with the Bob Jackson, I feel that the frame is fractionally too large for me. It's a 60cm and I think I would have been wiser getting a 58 or 59cm frame.

And if my replacement is an elegant fixed frame that bridges the track minimalism and the cyclocross utility, then that will be the bike to use all of the time, and the only bike in my stable it would deprecate would be the Jackson.

So yeah, a 60cm 1yr old 853 tubing Jackson with 753 forks, inc titanium BB, chris king headset, thomson seat post & stem, campy record cranks is likely to come up pretty soon. Cost as new, somewhere in the £1,400 mark for all of that. I realistically know that with depreciation and wear taken into account the re-sell price of bikes is about a third off (optimistic) down to half off (pessimistic) the original price tag.

I'll be keeping the bars, saddle and most def the wheels. The wheels I don't think I'll let go off until I wear them out.
