That sucks, sorry to hear it...
Did they bust through locks? I've become crazy paranoid lately, can't stop looking out the window 'just to check'...
-
• #159
Got a pic to link here! I'll be looking around on Sunday too!
How was it locked up?
-
• #160
This might have been suggested before, but would it make sense to have some kind of flickr group where pictures and details of stolen bikes could be hosted?
-
• #161
What lock did you have? Did they leave the broken lock? How did they get through it? So many questions.....
-
• #162
F!cking motherf!ckers. Sorry to hear that J.
I'll be up that way this weekend so I'll def keep my eyes open. -
• #163
i'm always interested to hear exactly what lock and how it was used....
I guess place and time of day would be useful too.
Any way we could build up a profile of places/ types of locks/ types of locking methods to avoid? -
• #164
even with these locks there are all these nefarious hulks and houdinis busting through them. and the theives seem to (for the most part) posess that invisibility that happens in cities; people often just walk on by. i think it's time to sort out a way to electrify the locks, so that anyone trying to fuck with them gets a mighty shock. come back to the bike, find a would-be thief in convulsions from that moment his clippers tried to snip. heh.

I think the South Africans have it right, with that car that fire comes out of.
I'd love a lock that caused some serious issues for the cunt stealing my bike.
Or like in Blade- with the knife that comes out of the handle- Im thinking one from the saddle! -

Been down BrickLane today from 11-5! Didn't see anything fixed being sold. Just lots of old bikes.
As for the Alarm, it's very fulgy! Also what happens (if) you stop at a traffic light! Won't the alarm auto-arm!!!!

I am reasonably sure they have thought of that !
And yes it is ugly !
It doesn't say whether you can carry it in your bag and snap it on when needed, then arm it, that would be good.

My shed was broken into over the weekend, and both my and my wife's fixed were nicked. Both were locked to each other. It has to be someone watching us commute, as only one other shed was attacked. The others which contain junk weren't touched.
Mine is a emerald green Mercian track bike, with Profile bullhorn bars, a crud catcher, bottle bosses and mudguard lugs added by the previous owner. It's about 22inch frame, and has a goldtec rear hub.
Wife's is a silver condor, with rear mudguard, drop bars and suicide brake, about 52cm.I will be heading to Brick Lane on Sunday, tooled up and ready to rock. Death to tea leaf scrotes.
Also surfing eBay and gumtree as they're pretty distinctive bikes - especially the Mercian. It's fugly.I have a pic of it as I was riding across Manhattan Bridge in July, which I'll try and post.
