  • You can try and hunt for the Campagnolo BMX cranks that were made in the eighties, but the're super expensive. Have you tried locating someone who can anodize and just bring a pair of cranks round to have them sorted out?

  • reasonable price for those sugino's, but alas out od stock.

  • they are sooo nice!

  • i like gooooooooooooooldd.

Caveat emptor: Ben's Cycle won't mark your parcel as a gift or put a lower amount on the customs declaration...
    I know, I tried...

  • i've bought from ben's before (when i was in the US) and things usually worked out fine, really nice people to deal with.
they originally went out an anodized a ton of sugino and nitto things on their own, only to find out that it voided the warranty on everything, so they ended up having a massive recall and getting all new bits sent to sugino and nitto approved anodizers.

Never knew Campag entered the BMX market in the 80's. Just shows you learn something new everyday!

  • cheers for the advice but does anyone know of anywhere where i can get some cheaper? (limited student budget)

  • the campy bmx one's are really nice. i was riding a critical mass back in boston and saw this one guy on an amazing custom built (though not for him) yamaguchi pursuit bike with these fluted campy cranks. i thought they were these NOS fluted campy track cranks which at a time were costing upwards of $1,000 for the cranks alone. when i asked him about them he corrected me saying that for a brief stint in the '80s campy made some random bmx parts (bb, headset, cranks) and that the cranks came in various colors (gold being one of them). i think they also came in shorter bmx sizes, such as 140mm.

your cheapest option is probably buying some chrome cranks and powdercoating them gold, if not finding someone to anodize them. any sort of off-the-shelf colored cranks are going to cost a bit.

you could always ask this guy who blinged out a fuji track bike with some sweet gold parts
