peejay78 stompy have you got a blue bob jackson?
mine is "midnight blue".
You got me confused with Lucky7 - I'm on a black Fuji.

• #153
i thought i might have.
sorry. i'm sure your fuji is very nice. my blue one is great. a bit trashed though.

peejay78 i read it as: meet at beigel bake at 11.30 to ride over, otherwise meet at 1pm at south ken. all welcome...
if your bike has an orange frame and yellow deep v wheels then it is a bit bling, yes. all the more reason to show up i reckon. i don't think anyone minds? i went to polo last week and everyone was very friendly.
well, I do have white deep v wheels, but my frame is a matt black alu dolan track frame. Sometimes, I rue the fact that I went for such a choice of rims! I feel I feel I get looks from messengers too, and feel a bit of fake and a general tool!

perhaps, I think it'll just be nice to hopefully meet some nice fellas tom and get a chance to ride with other fixers which, shock horror, I have yet to do. None of my mates cycle, the lazy gits! The only other fixers I meet are at the lights, and striking up conversation is rather difficult and awkward. Have you had the experience of fixers blasting past you, getting as near to you as possible? It's quite unnerving and generally not cool man. Where is the love?!

Well, if see you ( or you see me Black Bob Jackson and blue shorts/ woolen knickerbockers) I 'll stop for a chat.

candide Hi there,
I am new to fixed riding, and am a bit nervous about meeting up with the "hardcore" riders. Having read some of the discussions, I am worried about what others will make of me and my ride, as it could be termed a bit "bling" (yes, I bought it from blb!) and I am not in the least well versed in fixed riding, or indeed technically minded. But I love to ride it none-the-less!
What time does the meet at sth ken start? Did i read there will be a convoy from the east to the start point? It's supposed to be a friendly introductory ride.. so if any of this lot get lippy.. let me know and mum will force them to drink spoonfuls of cod liver oil until they say sorry.

There's only one way to find out if you actually wanna ride with these nutters.. and that's to ride with these nutters :)
The ones I've met are pretty cool. They usually give you 5 minutes grace before taking the piss out of you. ;) -

it wasn't until a visit to a county fair a summer ago when i realized fully why so many jokes about sheep shaggers.
walking through the sheep stalls was like a stroll down vulva lane-- the poor things, their junk is all out there, right on their rear, like BOOM vagina!
one of the guys i was with was really disturbed by it. pretty funny. -

Looking forward to this - see y'all @ the greyhound tomorrow. And don't worry, candide, everyone's very friendly. I haven't even had anyone take the piss out of my Langster yet, (although I've yet to meet peejay ;o))

bah!
to all going from brick lane: are we meeting at the beigel place, or at the greyhound? 11:30, right?

10:45 Leave Cutty Sark Gardens if anyone wants to join me towards....
11:30 Leave Beigel Bake Brick Lane; the East London mash to the Greyhound
13:00 Leave Greyhound, amble round city to reach Brick Lane for 14:30 bike polo. -

i know - i'll come down to the beigel bake, ride over to high st ken, return, skip the polo and ride town to CP for the prologue.
-

if i finish work in time ill try to hook up, im in he west end so if you see a lonely green fixed bike bopping about ring ya bells and 10:4 - 10:4 its a convoy !

I think I'll come over to beigel bake as well. I'll be on blue Olmo.
Should be fun. -

unxetas bah. girls.
Similar story here, but not really. I've had two girls crash over and neither have bikes with them. So even though I want to come and sorted this out, I don't think I can abandon my mates when one of them isn't even a Londoner.
I'm going to take them to Richmond instead and then up to Brick Lane, so I should be seeing you all down the polo fields later. Enjoy the ride, and someone do a photo report.

Just got back.
Had a cracking good time; met lots of nice new and old folk, and saw neat bikes.
Polo was interesting, too.
Thanks for turning out.
