lpg 5 weeks is a joke. what is this, 1973?
Good year - don't knock it :)
-
• #29
any frame, but I meant the CONdor
if you were stretching to 6-700 sheets, like you were insinuating
they are a nice frame, but bollocks to all the hassle of their builds
Gary waited ages for his, and they balls'd some bits up AND he even had inside contacts AND did the washing up, but they still took ages.
Imagine for you, just another young buck, with dreams of stardom, they'll just kick you into the gutter and laugh.
For a year.

it's a bike, not black bread
-
• #32
yeah, those pesky condormen.
what did gary pay for his? it;s a nice build, but it's non-standard, right?
the pista frame is 449... that build is not going to come in for less than 700, not with your fees.
-
• #33
he paid, a million-zillion quid.
but it doesn't weigh anything.
you'll need to spend 700 I suppose

not for free, mindCan you buy the frame alone? Hangon are you talking about the Condor or the Pearson?
When nimhbus mentions the addition of carbon posts, etc. Why not buy these parts online? You get more choice, bit cheaper and have a spare.
Things like tyres too - just kill the stock ones before buying new ones.
Also, how flexible are Pearson on price? All places will have some flex built into marked prices. I never buy shit like that without haggling. Even if they wont bend on price they would at least throw stuff in free. -

I'll try a bit of a haggle, but it's harder when they are the only supplier of that bike! can hardly claim i'll go somewhere else, after all!
-
• #44
Yes, but you can claim that you'll buy something else..
-
• #45
yeah, you're right. i'll give it a go. They're really good in that shop, by the way, good experience there today. recommended. shame it's out in the arse end of nowhere.
You can buy the Pearson frame+fork+headset -it's 290, he said. seems like a good price, it's a fucking light frame, very well made.

brick lane bikes usually have some good quality frames - think i've seen a condor frame for 350 there at some point, might be worth checking out...
-
• #47
i would never get a frame from brick lane bikes. a second hand frame for 350 is way too much money. you can get more decent stuff for way cheaper. honest. get that frame and decking it out with decent quality components you end up spending almost more than getting a brand new condor which comes with decent components. the only frame i would consider getting there is a stock dolan.
personally i think the pearson is ugly. the wheelbase looks too long, the bars look weird, the tektro levers don't look very good, and it's got cheapo RPM cranks which you can get from kiwi for 3 tenners. unless the frame is absolutely brilliant i'd say from the components it looks well overpriced. i would even choose a langster over it, at least it's got sugino cranks and the frame is tighter!

well, i like the flyer. its steel and very customizable. but it is very popular these days. lots around.
the touche is nice and different to most other production bikes. person's was my local bike shop as a kid. i still use it when i can and they make fucking good bikes. my dad still has his 531 pearson hanging in the garage and its a sweet ride (and yes I do have my eye on it). last time i was in the shop he was building a stickerless black touche with dur-ace/open pro wheels and it looked fucking amazing! and the attention to detail on the touche frame is excellent.
tough call mate.

judging by kiwi's website alone, he alone seems to sell/fix up old bikes with forward facing dropouts...
-
• #50
Nimhbus i paid £1000 for my condor but i did go semi-pimp. expensive bars, dura-ace brake etc.
all i can say is it was worth every penny and although i have limited experience of riding other bikes the ride is much better than a heavy 80's/90's conversion due to the weight and carbon bits.if you can't afford it go for the flyer or try to find a filmore. the pearson is allluminumium which is the work of the devil.
5 weeks is a joke. what is this, 1973?
we want it now NOW NOW.
