runcible rakan Check out the cheapo RPM cranks http://www.kiwicycles.com/wheelsandparts.htm
runcible do you reckon those would go the distance... I was wondering about those myself for a cheapo build...but 30 quid surely cant buy you good cranks?

as far as i know they are the same cranks on a stock fuji track they are definitely good enough although they might look a bit ugly.
-
• #6
I ran them on my Kona without trouble.
Ask a Fuji rider, they have them as standard.

The chainring is dished, however, so replacements are tricky.
But then the whole thing costs about the price of a chainring anyway.
-
• #8
If you polished all the shite off they would look sweet.
Don't like the dished idea though. -

the rpm should work just fine.. but they look exactly like they cost, cheap!
-

Yeah those RPM look wicked, after all I used a Shimano Octalink crank when I first used to ride trials, cost me £20 and I landed on them all the time if I missed something, they lasted me 9 months and the worst that happened was they got a bit dented. Forged cheapness owns I tell thee.
Thanks for the replies, I'll get those RPM ones, do I have to call up Kiwi or is there another online ordering thing anyone knows of?

phone or email him (might have to leave a msg as he's in the basement of a building - near london fields). guy you're after is paul. he's quite helpful...really knows his sht.
last time i was at his shop he was out of 165mm silver cranks...but he did say he was getting some more this week.

I got mine here:
Not a great website, but they're nice enough when you call.
He has shiny silver ones too....

bump*
Whats the craic with kiwicycles? Does he run a shop or does he work from home?
Tried emailing him the last week with some queries on parts and builds etc and as yet no response.
He is prob well busy but just wondering if this is usually the case and is it just better to get on the blower or go round? -

I emailed him about some stuff a couple weeks ago and it did take him a while to reply, he said he was very busy too..

For my rebuild I got RPM cranks from Edwardes in Camberwell...
They seem okay... I have just bought a stronglight set from ebay which I will upgrade to though.

i got rpms on my fuji. certainly solid. no problems there. as others mentioned, they're not going to win the "mr beautiful crank UK" title any time soon.

I should say that after a curb-pedal-strike the left crank slipped, knackering both the crank and the bottom bracket.
But that is probably more to do with my newbie building skills, rather than the quality of components... :-/
I'm looking for a new set of cranks and I really don't know what to get. I'm a student with little money until the loan comes through and can't afford THAT much but would really like some recommendations on what I can get, either just the crankarms or a whole chainset, for as little as possible.
So either new would be great or if somebodys selling some, then let me know as I'd be interested. But yeah, any kind of pointers to some good ones?
Thanks
