does anyone know much about Cougar bikes? I've got a (too)-big Cougar in fetching flourescent pink and yellow that I bought on ebay a month or so ago as my ss commuter project for £150. It's italian cro-mo and came with 105 groupo, campag carbon fibre rear rim on Shimano and zipp 303 front wheel on hope. From the now discontinued rear rim (forget the model) I think it's a late 1990's model.
I know absolutely nothing about them and google's not been able to help either...

cougar=good
what tubs are they Aidan or have you not received the bike yet?
-
• #9
i have'nt received it yet,do you think its a good deal winston?
-
• #10
er...yes!
I ask about the tubs, coz I've had three punctures on lightweight tubs at HH this season, even with the limited amount of track time there has been....it might be to do with the track surface breaking down slightly....given that a professional repair costs £9 you might wanna buy some tenner tubs to put on for Saturday sessions / training.

yeah thats somthing il consider,i'll let you know when i get it....its in south wales!

Winston, tubs are easy to repair yourself.
About Cougar, Terry Dolan used to build them. Wookie has a Dolan built one that is absolutely beautiful! Not sure who took over from him but Roxy has a post-dolan cougar that is really well built, if a bit overbuilt for such a small frame.
Congrats Aiden.

Theres some more info on Cougar here:
http://www.londondynamo.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?t=468Nice score Aidan, you better start rocking that beast down at HH. They say red bikes are faster, so you have an advantage there.

Bling bling!

thanks for that...
I guess all the tubs I have repaired that were a royal pain in the arse were just the exceptions to the rule!
I've mended a few over the years and not all with the special kit, if you don't use the thread that comes in a kit make sure you get the strongest thread you can, don't even think about standard threads as your tyre will pop as you pump it up.
Since I discovered the guy in Rotherham I always send my lightweight racing tubs to him as he does such an excellent job, if they're training or old, cracked tubs I fix them myself or chuck them away.

Dental floss is extremely strong and easy to get hold of. Also completely water resistant. I've used it for fixing backpacks etc when away in the mountains. You can even use it to clean your teeth.
