maybe you could fart through the letterbox?
then you could give them some smells without setting foot in the shop.
or send them some sand, in an envelope?
-
• #6
I farted through my neighbours letterbox (who happens to be my best friend) and we all laughed about it for hours. aaah, good times.

yeah that may have been sebastian,was he tall and thin?....if it was sebastian then it must have been a bad day for him,i know him quite well and i can assure you that he's a very nice and respectful bloke and im sure he ment no offence by the way he treated you....i know it must have pissed you off but please dont let that effect your opinion of the shop and the staff..its a good place...and its not CONdor!

I'd love to jump to their defence cos they're 2 mins away from my work but jeebus, I'm still waiting for a phone call/email about the parts they''d have in stock "next week, latest" that I ordered in June.

I bought some eggbeaters in EVANS the other weekend
I got them back to Paris
and they were different from the ones I had pointed too in the display case
and they came with two right footed cleats
not only that
when I was in there they treated me as if I was interrupting
whatever it was they were chatting about when I walked in
I only really went in there to have a look around
and I only bought the eggbeaters on impluse really
but now I won't never go EVANS ever again

ah, at least you learned a good lesson! :)

• #11
what parts are you after? Sebastian was at a party till 6am... and then went straight to work... Saturday is not the best day to go into any bike shop, you should try going to Edwardes on any day!!

also if the IRO has a dent you may be able to get a slight discount on it...

aidan its a good place...and its not CONdor!
I keep reading here that Condor is the worst bike shop on earth, and it's always in the back of my mind when I go there. But over the last few months I've been getting insanely good customer service in there. It's almost scaring me. Unfailingly nice, taking their time even when busy, offering to do thoroughly unneccesary things like putting cleats on shoes for me. And they were super-nice when my girlfriend, who'd probably never been in a bike shop before, went there to get me a pressie.
Velorution I DON'T like, though!

agree CONDOR, always busy, not the cheapest, they make mistakes as well as everyone but at least they know what they are talking about. Always had good custome service in there.

i used condor as an example of a major bike shop,im sure most people would prefer to shop in an independent shop like Cavendish cycles..i know i would.
-
• #16
I am not too much in favor of condor, but not sure if I fully understand what is an independent bike shop and what isn't? Sure Evans isn't, they are obviously part of a chain and mostly interested in reaching their sales target.

Condor would pass my independent test (one location, family-owned operation)... although I've heard Bikehut are possibly flogging Condor bikes.
And, oh... Boris was in there yesterday. He was hanging out near the tyres, looking befuddled. Don't think he was going to buy a Pista.

My personal experience.
Evans - Waterloo (both shops) = great service
Evans - West End/Rathbone place = VERY bad service
Evans - Grays Inn Road = VERY bad service
Condor = good service
New Cavandish Street = OK service
Cyclesurgery = OK service -

Can't believe I am sharing my 'service experience' on a internet forum dedicated to cycling with a specific drive train set up at 2.30 in the morning, jesus fucking christ !

Well I had heard, but you don't really expect to be given two right handed cleats now do you...!!!
I remember when Monty still worked in Condor, I always liked Condor, should have bloody gone there

They were really helpful to me when I bought my IRO. On a Saturday. But the two staff in there were both English, don't know that other geezer.

personally i think they are all shit
in cavendish cycles they are crap -

Condor = good service
New Cavandish Street = OK service
Cyclesurgery = OK serviceMy experince is fairly similar. I think generally Evans shops are a fucking nightmare, BUT I must say I have been to both Waterloo shops and the guys there were really helpful genuinely willing to help / chat. The crap stores I've been to are Spitalfields (v. poor), Wandsworth (fucking awful) & Ludgate Hill (just about ok).
At Condor I found they were really keen to talk to you when I wanted to order my Italia, but in terms of after care, 1st service, picking it up after the order, they were appaling. I felt as if staff were trying to avoid serving you. I'm gald I'm not the only one who's not happy with them.

My experience:
Top - Brixton Cycles
Next- Cavendish
Fuggheadaboutit- Condor(been there 5 times in a vain attempt to hope it got better!)
possibly the worst customer service i've ever encountered, went in to buy a frame and he's about as interested in helping me as i would in picking shit up from the street.
anyway dont get the 55cm iro frame from there as it's got a dent at the top of the head tube i noticed.
