Keirin Fest 2007 ...CANCELLED

well. it's bank holiday. and keirin fest is not happening. maybe let's make something happen. anyone up for just a ride round town during the day? avoiding notting hill/ladbroke grove area of course.

Just bringing this back up to the top....coz it's Friday and in case people haven't seen this... I don't want people to turn up disappointed!

I am still so gutted about this. Only noticed yesterday that it made it into Time Out's top 5 sports events for this week.

If I was even vaguely track qualified I would have entered for sure - anything to get the numebrs up.

so no chance of getting this thing going at all??? i was gonna enter on the day as most people i thought, the webpage didn't really make the fact that pre-registration was needed.

ENTRIES CLOSE 21st AUGUST! is what it says on the site....and as said I did post an entry reminder on this very site as well as others....maybe the wording of that could have been more forceful!

We also stated that we accept entries on the line, however a promoter can only assess interest in an event from entries received before closing day, that interest was dismal, for the novice / go race category which was targeted specifically at users of this forum and couriers I got a single entry and zero email enquiries.

It is true that non license (novices) holders may not be used to usual entry procedures, however the novice category was one of four categories, the other three categories were for existing license holders who are all well aware of normal race entering procedures....from these I received zero female entries, zero junior entries and not enough senior entries to have a competitive event given the specialist nature of the meeting.

Although the belated interest in this event from novices is encouraging it would not have "made" the event.....we will try again next year, and will attempt to correct our mistakes, namely not launching early enough and getting it in the BC calendar and making entry requirements clearer.....I really thought the cash prizes would do the trick!

We didn't take entries by paypal because I don't believe in taking entrants money beforehand, if the event is cancelled due to weather (quite poss at HH) they've lost nothing .........and it's not really practical with a BC sanctioned event .....as entrants have to apply on a BC form, usually posted to organiser...... so making a paypal payment would not guarantee an entry....... only the form with payment would, these forms are required to be signed, so cannot be done on the interweb.

If you have some free tee shirts I'll glady offer them next year...! thanks!
