  • the-smiling-buddha What you going to do to it...?

    Bad shit.

  • I have this bike, where duid you get the tyres from?
    Cheers

  • Guys, I'm trying to get a shopper for this girls I'm seeing - it's her birthday in October. I might be able to get a Twenty for cheap, but looks like I'll need to place a few parts. How hard is it to get replacement bits?

Or if anyone sees a good one can they give me shout please!

  • You have five hours to bag this Twenty (it is currently sitting at £10) It is actually a Nova, but basically the same thing - It also doesn't look as though you would have to do anything to it.

    Green Raleigh Nova

There are normally a few 20's around if you have a trawl through ebay.

  • the tyres are a Dahon part

    http://www.shopatron.com/product/part_number=40-465/412.0.56.0.0.0.0

I bought mine in the states

but I reckon Evans can order them for you direct from Dahon

try the one Evans in Covent Garden

  • Cheers.

  • just found this!

  • So did you know that 20inch wheels come in different sizes

    I couldn't find a 20inch 406 rim that was narrow enough

So the the rear is made up with a white industries eno hub on a 451rim

Which means that the back wheel is bigger than the front wheel

Also you try finding black spokes for a twenty inch wheel

These had to be cut and re-threaded

    The cranks are sugino mighty

I had them lying in my box of 'bits'

I fitted them up and thought that they looked good against the chrome of the catch

I have a drilled 52t sugino ring waiting for me in the USA that needs to go on

    Still to do

For love nor money I can't find a rack that both fits and looks good

BUT I know a man with a dog who makes customs chrome racks for touring bicycles

he said he would take a look

Then when it is all fitted up

I have to take it all apart and grind off the ugly bits

    Love it or hate it

This bike get loads of attention where-ever I go

  • Nice :)

I would get a faux aero cover for the back wheel (I am not joking!).

Somehow the slightly larger back wheel looks better - I am no fan of chopper geometry, but this seems to work here.

You definitely need to take an angle grinder to the brake bosses and cable routing, this metal killing bad boy cost me £19.99 from homebase.

  • Actually, technically speaking, you should always try and cut stuff off rather than grinding it down. The heat from the friction plays havoc with the frame.

  • they don't make these anymore otherwise I would have bagged one

that aero disk looks kinda sick can you get them or can you make'em yourself...?

asm....I got a DREMMEL I was going mask it all off

then cut and grind with that, you reckon that would work

    its a bit nerve racking

Good point, I only grind down if it is steel.

For alloy something like a dremel would do, chop off as much as you can, then dowse it in water (the area being ground down not the dremel !!!) every few minutes.

  • buddha cutting them off is no problem, you just want to keep the heat subjected to the frame to a minimum. So cut off all the cableguides etc with the dremel, then grind off the stub, rather than grinding off the whole bloody lot, and you should be fine and dandy.

For the aero covers, you could try buying some paper plates? the wheels look about the right size :)

Make the Aero cover yourself, is is after all just a disc (or more precisely a very flat cone shape) with a hole in the middle.

  • I hear you.

You certainly need a sense of humour to ride a fixed Dahon....

    But an NJS certified shopper?

    Now there's a thing!

And I have a very good sense of humor thank you very much ;-)

I have the 2009 Dahon Cadenza Solo

  • nice to see this thread again :)

  • That bike is nuts. Can I see pics of the buddha's bike anywhere, would love to show it to the other half by the sound of it but the pics don't work now.

  • Sure can do just popping out for an icecream I take a snap and post it when I get back - buddha

  • Ah sorry followed the links and can see it now, wasn't loading in the thread, very nice too.

If you've changed anything since would be interested to see though.

  • I want one of these with the HED's - i think they are still in production, i found em somewhere online a couple of months ago

  • The French love this little bike they are always commenting on it - buddha

  • cool bike! would love to try it, wish I wasn't so far away

  • I think its 'fugly' but it is so much fun to ride - something to do with having little wheels

  • Those Mu Uno's look awesome in the catalogue shots

Think the no cables thing makes it look so clean.

@ the-smiling-buddha, if you can't find black 20" spoke you been looking in the wrong places. BMX spokes are available in all kinds of colours and can usually be bought in 36 or 72 spoke packs for buttons.
