One for the designers/typographers...

Anyone know what the old serif font that Mercian use is called? Wanna get a coupla Mercian-esque decals made up but can't be arsed to redraw it... Don't fancy doin' an 'S' much... :-S

don't know wether it's been digitised, what you looking to get done in that style, could probably do you something

Get a straight on photo (not at an angle/distorted) - then clean it up in photoshop - then use this:

Just done a quick search and found two Carousels, neither one's right tho'... May have to call Mercian...

It's Mercian.. it's obviously a "custom" Carousel.. ;)

I'm going to pick up my Mercian today..... I'll ask them in the shop. I know that the other font they offer is called NewBlock..... and when you order this is called Gothic

Might be custom.

my mate has just been fitted for a mercian and as part of the spec they offered him the option of having his name on the seattube in the mercian carousel font.
They stock all the letters as decals so you can get custom names for about £25 notes - worth giving them a ring

I'll send you the font I used as the base, you have to add a few bits and bobs and tweak the fish tails a bit but if you're ok with illustrator then no probs.

The Mercian Logotype is a hand drawn version of a tuscan style woodcut and isn't in me sourcebooks but a morning spent flicking thro old type catalogues is never wasted [reminded me that i must do a screenprint with this soon] blingin' font
