I too was worried about the proprietory nature of the product, having delt with many such oddities in the past (i hate french threaded bottom brackets), but all the reading i have done makes it look like level can only get bigger and, that they have a well though-out contingency plan in such case that they go bust. they are beautiful, I am still not sure that they are the logical choice over phil wood- tried and true.
