bricklane still is a big stolen bike thing, but they don't usually have all the bikes there at once. You usually see 2 or 3 bikes that are obviously stolen and a few others that are a bit dubious on the stall area. When they sell them, they go wherever and bring some more..
Did you report it to the police? Apparently they do recover quite a lot of bikes and most of them are sold at police auctions cause no one claims them..

What did it look like? I saw a black SS with chain tensioner and persuit bars there today.
Looked dubious. -

I think I saw that one too, shimano dura ace hubs?.. It didn't look dubious to me, I was sure it had just been stolen, the guy who took it there was telling the man at the stall how great it was and how much money he would be making.
I wish I was superman sometimes.. But evil..

don't buy stolen bikes. if there's a market for it, then theft will continue to happen. plus, if i saw you riding my stolen bike, i'd have a chat with you.

mmm how do u tell if its stolen then? for all i know, mine could have been stolen lol! (dont worry i didnt buy it from bricklane lol)

90% of them will be. I've bought one bike from there, just as a bit of a karma swap as I'd just had mine nicked. But I wouldn't reccomend feeding the fire.

aidan: i think we need to chat.

buying a stolen bike is just wrong.. basically doing that, you are karmically bonded to a life of having your bike nicked. The cash you give the little fucker will probably go towards a better pair of bolt cutters so he'll nick your next bike a bit easier.

I bought a road bike from there about 4 years ago from a guy with a stand. I assumed it was legit as he had a stall but now I think about it, it might have been dodgy.
It got nicked about 8 weeks later so I guess if it was, then there is the karma. It's like stolen bike hire.I wouldn't buy from there now.

maybe it was one of those cases where someones bike gets nicked......8 weeks later they see it locked up outside a shop and steal it back.....
-
• #22
Maybe. Two pikey kids came into our garage as
I left it open for my lady. Heard them and caught one as his mate sped off. Realised I'd never get this one to get his mate back and let it go.Anyway. I learnt my lesson.

should of shut yourself and him in your garage and kicked his head in.
atleast you would of felt better -
• #24
I agree. Nothing like a bit of violence towards minors to even up the karma scales...
-
• #25
he would think twice about knicking someones bike again.
or you could of held him and told him to ring his mate and
tell him he isnt allowed out of your garage untill he brings your bike back
I had my bike nicked last weekend.. Ive just been to bricklane market too look for it, but to be honest i didn't see a huge many bikes for sale, certainly wasn't a den of propinquities I was expecting, maybe all the bad press bricklane has been getting has driven them underground or maybe i just wasnt looking in the right places.
needless to say i didn't see my bike, anyone know anywhere else i could look?
