If I pass someone on the flat prior to a hill or on the hill itself I always find after I crest and they are some 30 meters behind me I hear back in the distance "clunk - clunk" of them slapping their bike into 53-11 and they come tearing past.
I always quip "anyone can ride fast downhill mate!"
Invariably I find myself passing them again on the flat once they have run out of steam..
