Getting a hand made frame or a unique lugged frame?

Posted on
  • Hi,
I am a bit rubbish when it comes to forum's but I had my stolen last week (have just stopped the tears flowing; )
Any how am looking to get my hands on another unique frame i really like the old style track bikes. Does any one know any where I can either get a cheap (not crazy cheap) or second hand frame like this. are there many fixed gear girl riders in london

  • i've seen a couple of girl riders around.

bad news about your bike, if you have one throw up a picture incase anyone sees it around

  • was it nicked in london? or sf?
by the way check out bricklane bikes for a wide selection of old style , modern, new and second hand track frames. Also try Jos.

  • thanks jv- yeah will do, you cant really miss it

  • SOrry about ur bike - post a pic in Stolen bikes thread when you get a chance- theres enough people on here now that such a distinctive bike may well be spotted!

Theres a cycle jumble coming up at herne hill velodrome- At the end of August to coincide with the Keirin day!
Always good chance of a bargain there - sadly not for me yet.

Also have a look at the ebay/craigslist finds thread on here or just post what size you're after someone may have a frame kicking around?

  • nicked near spitalfields, they left me the saddle though cheeky barstards. where is jos?

  • p.s. if you have time to throw away e-bay could be a good place to look or get in touch with Odge ( dexteflexer) he's good a sourcing track frames with his secret connections.

  • Jos is on the forum, he's the the dutch courier, the massive guy he had a lot of track frames in his flat, but that was a while ago

  • i am 5 "10 what size frame would i need? as i said i am a bit rubbish when it comes to this stuff just know what a like and want to ride.

  • Not to forget is Roberto

  • sorry to hear that.
post a pic as said earlier..
don't forget the fixed gear london chaps

  • as soon as my new bike is up and running will have to do a trip with you guys.

  • I'm sorry to hear about your bike. I guess one of the only good things to come out of it are that Johnny Cycles frames are incredibly rare over here (rare anyway), so its going to stick out like a sore thumb when it turns up. If you haven't already post some pictures in the Stolen bike thread and here. I'd also post something on Moving target as well. Those messenger kids are pretty good at spotting stolen gear.

Best bet for frames are the bike jumbles (Ripley bike jumble can often turn up some gems). Brick Lane Bikes often have some nice 2nd hand frames.
Try also Roberto on this forum as well, deals a lot in 2nd hand track stuff on Ebay.

  • millieridder i am 5 "10 what size frame would i need? as i said i am a bit rubbish when it comes to this stuff just know what a like and want to ride. johny c was amazing he does it all for you.
    cheers guys

it all depend on how you ride, how long you arms, inner legs, torso etc etc are...soeone posted a link for a calculator here a while ago, it's for road bikes but it gives you a fairly good idea of wht size frame you'll need, and other useful measurements.

  • yeah, try Andy at http://www.fixedgearlondon.com/, he or Odge may be able to sort you out.

  • Thinh Murtle means: fixedgearlondon

Andy can sort you out a treat.

  • thanks ben

  • millieridder- sorry about your bike. there are a more and more girls riding fixies.
anyway send me a pic of your stolen bike and i'll keep an eye for it. i ride 9 hours a day so i might spot it if its a rare frame.

  • thanks every one- pics will be up soon as i can get hold of my camera. cheers again guys.
