i agree, the variety of tools you need to work on the bottom bracket and crankset is really annoying. imagine if you have to update your cotterless cranks + b.b. from old skool to nu skool:
1 pedal wrench
1 crank puller
1 allen key/screwdriver for dust caps
3 types for crank bolts - 8mm allen/14mm/15mm box wrench
4 for cup & cone b.b. - lockring tool (not taking into account of the number of notches!)/pin wrench/adjustable wrench/fixed cup tool
either:
1 campag bb tool
1 shimano bb tool
1 wrench lever for both of these tools/crank puller
