Apparently, the proportion of cyclists that are female is 40%+. I see loads of women on the roads in London. There must be girls on the forum! What do you all talk about that puts them off? If you know any girls who cycle - seriously or otherwise - could you ask them to get in touch?

I don't actually know any that cycle, much less ride ss/ficksd. :(
My gf will, on the rare occasion that I feel like riding at 10kph along a canal with her but otherwise.. 0. -

This forum aimed specifically at people who ride singlespeed (i.e. no gear change) and fixed wheel (i.e. no gear change, and you have to pedal all the time the bike is moving). Some people on here ride bikes with no brakes. Although there are girls who ride fixed, it tends to be a bit of a boys thing (a bit like listening to The Smiths).
We talk about hubs, cogs, chainline, toe-overlap, beer and riding. Dunno about anyone else, but that puts Mrs Willski off.

I think it's more a problem of how many women while away their hours on an internet forum, rather than cycling. Good luck with the cycling range.

I can't remember the name of the shop but someone I think hippy posted a link to a website with female stylish cyling clothes. If someone can remember the link it may be worth you taking a look. Good luck.

women should wear lycra cat suits

I agree ....many fixed girls here in the city every day, but me thinks its not the subject of this forum
that make it male biased. Its forums in general.
I think girls just do have less time to waste reading posts all day..like us for the redeeming
social value of it..!?
gf is loitering ebay though...SIGH -

woo hoo let me wear the prototypes!!
Womens cycling gear sucks, and as I ride 50 mins to work (and back obviously) I can't wear my work clothes. My work mates titter at me when they see me arrive in my cycle gear. I even considered making my own stuff but then remembered I'm way to lazy to finish making anything. So hell yeah, good luck and can't wait to see the results. I will email you pronto

Hmm i think there is way less women riding fixed then men, from observing.
I think its because men are more geeky about shit and like doing stuff like bikes as a hobby while loads of women cycle but just do it as a practical thing rather than something they get obsessed with.

I don't know if Women can be bothered talking about bikes.
Hi, I'm a design student at London College of Fashion. I have been cycling in London for 7+ years now and have always been frustrated with the clothing available to women - either it's too girlie, too impractical or too sporty/masculine. So I've decided to base my final collection on clothing for female cyclists. I don't mean high performance gear - rather commuter gear that is both functional, comfortable, intelligent, adaptable and looks good so can be worn on the road and at work. I have a questionnaire which I'd appreciate your feedback on - if you have a minute, please contact me at vanessasmuts@gmail.com and I'll send it over. Thanks in advance!
