I have System-Ex which are supposed to be the same thing. I've swapped the bearings once on the rear. No troubles.
Quite a few people have reported snapping the locknuts. -

I've heard that the Ambrosio and the SystemEx hubs are really good no nonsense hubs.... good for ripping around town. They are the standard hubs for the Harry Rowland wheel builds at Brick Lane Bikes

I was just going to start a thread about these, so I may as well ask here: I've just got an ambrosio front hub built into a wheel, and I've noticed quite a lot of side-to-side play in the bearings. I tried tightening what would be the cones on a loose
bearing hub, which works on a Suzue hub but didn't seem to have much effect on the Ambrosio. Does anyone know how I can tighten the bearings on these things? -

Cheers guys, thats encouraging they sound OK - no nonsense is what im after. I'd like Goldtec's but it's my first fixed bike and i want to keep it fairly simple and see how i get on........natureboy have you a Ambrosio hub on the rear as well?

I do have a rear but it isn't built up yet. I'm using a suzue at the moment but it's on a sprint rim so i'd rather save that for my illustrious track racing career which is about to begin any time soon now :-)

the axle nuts (not the track nut, the inner nut) split in two, as so many people have found out. replace them with one's made of metal (not shit) and you're good to go, otherwise SJS cycles do some very similar as do On-One, they both appear to have sturdier made nuts.
you need sturdy nuts.
Just had a look at some down Brixton Cycles and for £28 they look pretty good value for money.....cartridge bearings so easy to replace - i guess you get what you pay for but just wondered if anyone had any experiences of them?
