degreaser, plastic bottle, cloth. chain goes in the bottle, cloth used on the ring and sprocket. then regrease.
though to be honest i only bother when the chain is noisy.

Clean? Clean? What is this word that you speak of?
If my bikes ever do get cleaned it's soapy water, maybe a shower with me and then a wipe down with rag and then a re-lube.

hippy maybe a shower with me and then a wipe down with rag and then a re-lube.
yeah, but what do you do to the bike??
-
• #5
I already told ya I don't do anything with the bike.. ;-)

Just don't overlube in the first place, simple to keep clean that way.
Bike oil dropped into each bushing then excess wiped.
Spray GT85/WD40 into a cloth till soaked then run the chain through it to keep the rust off the outside. -

two chains, one soaking in oil, the other on the bike, when the chain gets noisy, I remove it & drop it in a bowl of degreaser, take the new chain wipe off the excess oil, fit it, then lube it up with a dry lube, that way the internals are oil and the externals are shiney

do you mean the ordinary 3-in-1 sort of oil that comes in a rectangular tin with a long nipple?

KMC advise against the use of degreaser.
Dunno if this applies to all, but their chains are manufactured with grease in the bushings, which degreaser er....
degreases.

Parrafin. I keep it in a glass jar and brush chain with it, in situ, for quick clean after a ride and for thorough clean I remove chain and soak in clean parrafin. Parrafin cleans and also provides some measure of lubrication and moisture protection. After cleaning I re-grease/oil chain and remove excess with a dry cloth.

Dibs on custom fixie!
Whats your secret method and recipe for cleaning your drive train. Steam clean? Petrol bath? It always appear to me that other bikes chain looks like a necklace where mine seems absolutely messy. Was just wondering while trying to get all that dirt off from the DD. Usually just use MucOff and some cloth.
