I just had a look at a couple of my QR skewers and the rod is firmly attached one end. Looks like the only option would be to get a longer QR skewer, if they're manufactured?
Do you really need the QR skewer, though? If you just used bolts you probably wouldn't even need the tugnuts, depending on the kind of riding you're doing obviously.

Cheers eeehhhh.
I have a QR rear axle and the frame is set up for QR, so makes sense to stick with it I think.
The rods in my skewers are threaded both ends so I reckon they could be swapped. Ive seen titanium rods for sale on their own too. Google tells me that tandems have 140mm dropouts, so could maybe get a rod from one of them.
Anyone else know where I can get 140mm rods from?
Cheers,
Simon

SJS cycles sell a lot of tandem stuff if I remember rightly, so you could try their web site or even give them a ring. Their site seems to have so many parts on it!
If you get really desperate Will at http://www.hubjub.co.uk might be able to source something for you, if you don't mind waiting.

Thanks eeehhhh. Will speak to those people and let you know how I get on. Cheers, Simon
Hi all.
Does anyone know if it's possible to get longer rods to go in quick release skewers? If so, where from?
I've just fitted the rear wheel to my XC singlespeed project which has a singlespeed specific frame with big fat track ends and tugnuts, and by the time the skewers have gone through all that lot the knurled nut is only on the rod by a few turns.
Any suggestions very welcome!
Cheers,
Simon
