Ti spacers.. cable swaps.. my god you need someone to help empty your bank account! :P
That'd be the "steerer" tube DK. ;)
My bar tape is peeling off. Sod it.
My bikes are dirty, clicky, noisy sh1tebags. Sod it.
My headset is cracked and floppy. Sod it.
My shoes don't fit properly and peel my nails off my toes. Sod it.
My bars aren't even straight - it would take a 2min adjustment to fix. Sod it.Hands up who's a lazy cnut? Can't be bothered raising hand. Sod it. :-)

Is that a joke?...I think I'm having difficulty understanding the humour of this forum!
All sounds like stuff that could be done quite simply at home....
Paying a bike shop to change your bar tape!!! WITWCT????

the thread should be called "i can't tweak my bike , so the shop is going to do it"
-
• #10
Or "I use dirty tenners as top tube protectors."

I'm lazy, time poor and cashflow rich. Why not have them do the little stuff whilst they do the bigger stuff?

I really need to clean my bike. Anyone want to do it for me?
-
• #13
Oh yeah, they give it a clean too.

Each to there own Winston. I love playing mechainc with my bike and the only thing I have ever taken my bike in for is to have the b.b thread chased out on an italin b.b (very expesive tool as I am sure you know) but David clearly doesn't. He is putting some cash to a small business and his custom may encourage them to stock or get suppliers e.t.c for uncommon parts. I don't want to spend money on the stuff David does but it is his money to waste / spend a he sees fit. better than spending it on car parts.

No.. but who knows some big-chested birds in bikinis that'll get soapy and clean mine?

Cycle Fit as always. It's the only shop I know with consistent exceptional service. You pay for it, but I'm cool with that. The Serotta goes in next week.

In all seriousness, what do you do if it breaks whilst you're out and about?

I fix it.
I'm perfectly capable of fixing my bike and servicing it, and maintaining the bottom bracket and hubs. It doesn't mean I want to though. Given a choice of doing it or having someone else do it who I trust, I choose the someone else.
I love building new bikes, I love putting stuff together, selecting parts... and then I love riding them. The maintenance and servicing I can take or leave though, and mostly I choose to leave it.
The point I was trying to make though, is the minor tweaking, the constant desire to improve the bike a little. Change something that isn't quiet 'right' for something that for me feels a little better. Who cares who does it?

Sounds exactly like my photos - I love taking them, but editing them can be so bloody boring sometimes.

I hear you.
But surely if you don't maintain it yourself it must vary from "spot-on" when it's just been serviced to "ok" or "dodgy" when the service is due.
I'd have thought that would make more difference than swapping out minor components.

Where you taking your bike David?See this kind of craddle arangement:
It doesn't allow fine adjustment of the saddle angle, ie. you either have it in one groove or the next. They stupid things don't allow a flat saddle (depending on saddle rail angle). A micro-adjust one has bolts that mean you can literally adjust the angle of the saddle in tiny, amounts.
This one might do it - it's two bolt type:

I feckin' hate working on bikes. I like riding them.
I work on them when I have to and not before.
Stupid breaking mumble loose parts grumble tighten this.. moan clean this.. grrr.. stupid tweak.. sigh wish i had garage again.. huff.. etc
I really should stop.
The Bob Jackson is in for a service today. And everything is perfect. So it's going to be a bit boring for them.
However, I've still found enough for them to do:
And I'm looking at saddles too. Mine's dirty and summer is not yet here.
