For all of you with restricted internet access. Use a proxy, there are loads free ones out there but they are slow. Try and find a mate who will give you a shell account (best) or try googleing for free shell account although I don't know how fast these are.
Then use
http://kimmo.suominen.com/docs/proxy-through-ssh/
it is easier with firefox as you don't need to change your internet setting and hence need access to them you can just do it from the prefference menu.
