Yeah.
That and the spongey dead spots.
I just pedal all the time now :)

yeah me too. Not so long ago I was visiting some family and we needed some wine. Being a couple of bottles down my brother and I thought it prudent to ride- I borrowed his mountain bike and couldn't stop myself from pedalling either. Felt, dunno, less in control, I suppose.

Rode my old MTB to work this morning (see bust rear wheel/freewheel thread for explanation). Didn't like it. I kept going to slow down and getting a nasty shock when I kept on going. Also nearly tried to trackstand and sent my legs spinning off backwards.

installed a bike computer yeterday (it was a gift) and found my max cadence was 149 (average was 90). No-way would I get that if I hadn't discovered the fix...

Had that sensation the first time I rode the Ribble after riding the fixie for months. But now I swap between fix/free fairly often I don't notice.
I quite enjoying ramping up the pace and then flying down hills without pedalling. Nicer than flailing around worrying about whether that cab is gonna pull out.. -

I have had a cycle computer before but found I obsessed over the numbers, I am however quite tempted to get one to see how fast I can spin no point to it but just would like to know.:)

I used to have one years back so was pretty wary installing it yesterday cause I used to drive a lot and got pretty over-occupied with the whole statistics drug, but its early days- hopefully I won't be winding up like those cyclists climbing le grave in belleville renezvous, trying to catch that elusive extra 1mph. Also, it not wireless, so ruins the simple aesthetics of a fixed. Bugger.

Wear a watch or have a bog stock speedo? Just count your pedal revs for 10 seconds and multiply by 6.

When I am spinning I don't want to have to concentrate on a clock & counting I am in the zone!

You just said you wanted to see how fast you can spin.. you'd have to look at the computer anyway. My option was just a cheap, "aesthetically pleasing" way of doing so.
If you have a computer you can just get it to hit a max speed with a known gear - then you don't have to look. 'course you have to own a computer then.. -

Hmm, When I first had my fixed I would never coast on any other bike. I found I when going fast round corners I would always wipe out from pedal strike. Took me four times before I learnt.
The reverse happened when I cycled around Ireland on a geared tourer. Soon as i came home and got on the fixed and it quickly reminded me not to freewheel.

Isn't counting what happens in the zone - except you vaguely perceive numbers that will cease to exist once out of the zone again.
Or do I have issues?

Which zone are you in? Loading zone? Parking zone? Twilight zone?
