  • Hello just wandering if anyone knows of an old bmx cruiser that need a home, been looking to get a wee cruiser for pub/shop runs.
dont want to leave my new bike all alone, had one to many bikes nicked rellay dont want to loose my new one.
also do people have a pub bike...show and tell?

  • my haro race cruiser is for sale, but it's hardly a pub bike..

    profile hubs innit

  • Way too nice to call it a pub bike. i was looking to spend about £100 probaly below what you were looking for.
    cheers forthe shout though RPM

  • got any pics RPM??

  • not a very good pic..phonecamera

  • very nice

  • How much RPM?

  • was looking for £300 without pedals

it's not an expensive bike OTB, but the wheels are the big bomb.

    other upgrades:
    Profile 39 tooth chainring
    S&M racing lock-on grips
    DMR seatpost
    Tioga comp 3 tyres.

  • Above my budget!

I was also thinking pub bike. But you know I never do things cheap ;) I had such a great time riding the other BMX I bought back to the house of the girl I gave it to that I'm thinking of getting one for myself. Especially for local bars, pubs and the gravel riverside path to Richmond (not ideal for riding on with 23C tyres and a large gear).

Bloody nice BMX though. Wish I could afford it.

  • Fuck it... can you hold it for me for two weeks? Pay day basically :)

And if there's any scope for flex in the price it would be appreciated. I have a marriage and divorce to pay for.

  • I guess..

I'm selling because the tax man wants payments on account at the end of the month and I don't really have it without maxxing the overdraft! I also haven't ridden the darn thing this year, due to brockwell bmx track being out of action for so long but mainly laziness and fixed gear obsession

  • Well, it's perfect for me.

I can get down the river on it, but it's still bling enough to take it to Chicago, Seattle and New York in place of the track bike. Use it for pub crawls.

    Perfect.

  • that things about twice the weight of your track bike, bang goes your baggage allowance.

  • I travel light.

What I don't have is the ability to get the track bike around easily. I have to hire cars, and sticking the bike in mid-sized hire cars is just a pain in the rear. I was thinking either couplers or a BMX, a BMX is cheaper.

  • ah, ok then

Apollo II. I sold it before I came over here. Owned this for about 15yr? Paid $70 at a garage sale when I was in primary school I think.
Used it through school and uni. Used it as shop/pub bike. Almost never locked. Almost every part on it bent from crashes.
Could only use big ring. Headset was shimmed with electrical tape. Bars leant to the left. Cranks loose. Spokes rusted tight so wheels couldn't be trued.
Pedals were BMX Bear Traps with the cages removed ($1ea at another garage sale).
Wheels were scammed of brother from another garage sale. I was obsessed with getting "alloy" (alu) bits on it everywhere.
Had a Vetta C-60 speedo on it that was worth almost as much as the bike.

  • Hello all. Thought I'd wade in on this discussion as my first post (will make a proper introduction later on...)

My Felt Cruiser might like a new home...it's 7005, light and fast...mostly stock, though I've added Red Odi Mushroom grips and a Red HS33 hydraulic rim brake...the hills of SE London aren't too kind to 24" wheels but it would be a suitable steed for pub runs - understated bling anyone?! I'd be after £200 for it

If anyone is interested (rg37 - a bit closer to your budget?) I'll put some pictures up later...

    Sorry for the thread hijack!

  • velocity boy I had such a great time riding the other BMX I bought back to the house of the girl I gave it to that I'm thinking of getting one for myself.

Hehe, I miss not having one now.
You should have see the grin on my face rolling into London on it.

  • David remember that is a 24" wheel bmx not the usual 20" so it is a bit bigger. I don't think it will be that heavy as it looks like an alloy race bmx.

Spent a few years commuting into central London on a BMX (both 20 and 24"s) - half an hour each way was the greatest part of the day; mishief on wheels! Definitely sowed the seeds of a SS obsession...but had to graduate to bigger wheels for a longer ride

Well it's for exploring cities. I'm not going to be doing stunts as I'm crap and old. But for exploring cities and travelling with. It's perfect.

Unless there's some downside to 24's that I don't know about?

  • No it is clearly better for getting around on I just wanted to make sure you realised it was not a normal small BMX because you where planning on using it for flying with e.t.c instead of couplers that was all.

  • Couplers are way too expensive.

The cheapest I've seen is £400 from Roberts in Croydon, with a three week wait. Then you have to buy the box for the bike to go into.

It's cheaper, and more fun, to get a BMX. Just stick it in a cardboard box to travel with, and it still is small enough to fit in the back of a car... which doesn't really work when you're over 6ft tall and your track bike is massive.

  • got a friend who builds up bmx's from scratch he's a gt freak so that's all he produces, cost me about £180 i think. before I got the big roadbike I was on it all the time, pretty much the whole thing is custom, he finds a frame, talks to you about paint jobs, designs, etc. ridden across town on it, south to west, south to east mostly just use it when I'm meeting people in town, good nice soothing ride down by the river into the southbank.
If anyone's interested I'll forward on his details..

should also say it's not an immediate thing, can be a bit of wait as he takes a while to source bits and bobs, and the brakes don't work for toffee, been told it's because of the gyroscope front, but you get used to it.
