Yep, so if you drink it regular, diuretic-related dehydration is not an issue. Also 2-3 cups daily was found to stave off mental decline, alzheimers, etc:

an old cycling sage once told me that ordinary cheapo speed did a similar job to the fancy drugs that the tour riders of the time were taking..you could get some for the DD.
can you even get speed anymore? isn't it all gack and ketamine these days?
even pills ain't what they used to be, kids these days don't know what real drugs are! :)
-

Well, speed is just methamphetamine. The Tour riders were on different types of amphetamines. Same effects.
The drugs in use in the 60's and 70's were supposedly large, cheap supplies of amphetamines from post-war.
gack is nickname for low quality amphetamine. Just use more of it! :) Yes, speed is still available these days.

does this apply to alcohol too?

Have you heard the theory about booze killing off the weaker brain cells?
-
• #41
Buffalo theory right?
In one episode of 'Cheers', Cliff is seated at the bar describing the 'Buffalo Theory' to his buddy Norm. I don't think I've ever heard the concept explained any better than this...
"Well you see, Norm, it's like this... A herd of buffalo can only move as fast as the slowest buffalo and when the herd is hunted, it is the slowest and weakest ones at the back that are killed first. This natural selection is good for the herd as a whole, because the general speed and health of the whole group keeps improving by the regular killing of the weakest members. In much the same way, the human brain can only operate as fast as the slowest brain cells. Now, as we know, excessive drinking of alcohol kills brain cells. But naturally, it attacks the slowest and weakest brain cells first. In this way, regular consumption of beer eliminates the weaker brain cells, making the brain a faster and more efficient machine. And that, Norm, is why you always feel smarter after a few beers."

That's the one.

P.S. Tea contains caffeine too, just not as much.
P.P.S. Find me a pro cyclist that doesn't drink coffee.. it's a well know ergogenic aid (legal performance enhancer)
