Most of locking something up is to deter people from trying though, if someone wants your bike they will have it.

My dads mate works for the AA and every few months he gets sent on a course on how to brake into all the new cars with no / minmum damage, with the right tools and knolage anything can be broken into. That does not say alot for BMW / Merc e.t.c lates security features does it?

How many BMWs and Mercs have been stolen compared to Vauxhalls? I think you'll find the better cars ARE a lot harder to nick.

I am not denying that, I am saying there is always away with correct tools and knowledge, work for the AA and you can gain that knowledge:). Plus how many more Vauxhalls are there? How many more of them are parked in dodgy areas compeared to bmw behind automatic gates, bmw with tracking device e.t.c If some one want some thing they will take it.

Yes, anything can be stolen with the right knowledge, tools and time. But.. because the lux cars are so much harder to nick (I believe) they are much less likely to be stolen. Also, lux cars have a higher desire factor for crims so even if less are parked in dodgy areas they are surely more likely to be targetted.. unless they are too hard to break into..

Yes, what I am trying to get across is that the scrotes don't need much knowledge to silently defeat most the stuff being sold to you guys. I pair of bolt croppers is hardly breaking news, nor using wire cutters from machine mart or miniature bottle jacks. This is for you info only, the choice is yours but a product that is approved that can be defeated in seconds is not a deterent. A opportunist thief see's a unlocked bike and takes it, a scrote that has gone on the chore will have some of the tools mentioned above. If it can be defeated in seconds then it is no derent at all.
