  • So i sell a frame via ebay - post it not insured not recorded - buyer claims item not recieves and fucks everything up in my paypal account - 'funds placed on hold'.

If buyer doesn't get item, are we both fucked?

I should've withdrew my funds into my account as soon as i got them :(

  • How long has it been since it was sent? Can you ask postal company for any kind of tracking? ie. report a lost package?

  • oh shit man.

    proof of postage?

this is why I always use recorded delivery.

    how did you send it?

  • just put it in a box and took it to the post office.

I have a receipt for sending an object weighing 6.2kgs to somewhere. I didn't record it because they wanted an extra £12.00, and my P&P on ebay was £15.00 only...

come to think of it - my post office are run by fucking wankers. They charged me £11 to send it, and they said 'leave it here the postman will take it'. But, i didn't trust them, so when the postman got there he looked at me and my box and said '"that's too big - it's gotta go via parcelforce". Cue me calling the postmaster a slimy thief ...anyway, after a few words, postie says he'll take it because it doesn't weigh that much, it'll be alright.

    Maybe some postie nicked it...wankers.

  • sorry, i swear too much! will cut down for sake of hippy and my morals.

  • I should've withdrew my funds into my account as soon as i got them :(

well, that wouldn't help as they would still charge your card/bank account

  • I hear exactly what your saying. Last year I experienced appalling Paypal conditions. There isn't a great deal that can be done either. I still send things unrecorded but state certain rules on my auctions. The whole experience has helped me with future sales. The amount of people who get away with shit on there is insane. Paypal are terrible at dealing with these things. Have you checked the history of the buyer? How long has it been and how far? I sent something to Australia recently which arrived within a week. Sent something to Kent and it took 3 weeks? The buyer was about to claim money back! Royal Mail eh!!!!

  • lpg: You have the recipients address.. you could always convince them it arrived ;)
How long has it been 'in transit'?
How much was the total cost - can you just refund them?

  • why should i refund them? it's been in transit for 6 days..

  • Well, if the frame was cheap you could sort out your accounts by just refunding them. Then hunt them down later..
6 days isn't much! They've frozen it already?!! 7 days at least before even questioning it. Then another 7 to allow for problems.
Complaining after 6 days.. get a life buyer!

  • "As safe and secure as we are, we're always striving to get better. To help us improve, do please let us know if you think an item of your mail might be lost. This page will give you some key tips on how to proceed."

  • "Please wait 15 working days (from the due date of delivery) before completing this form as we would not consider an item as lost until 15 working days have elapsed."

See, told ya! The buyer is a wanker.

  • cheers hip. i didn't write a return address which in retrospect was stupid

  • Check this out: http://thehippy.net/nucleus/index.php?itemid=243
And I used to work for AusPost!

  • If it wasn't recorded it may take a while to get there. There could also be issues regarding size x cost. Like you said, one guy mentioned you need to use parcel force. The PO have been having strike issues recently too. The buyer sounds like an impatient git! For him to dispute it with Paypal so soon is ridiculous. Did he not mention anything to you before hand? I'd complain to Paypal. He might get it tomorrow and Paypal have your money. If he keeps quiet he gets refunded too. Keep the buyer sweeeeeet!

  • PayPal dispute res (ya gotta log in) https://www.paypal.com/uk/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=xpt/customerservice/EducationSellerOverview

"Try not to enter communication with the buyer under the assumption that they are acting unfairly or unreasonably. Make it clear that you see the situation as solvable and include some suggestions about how you would like to resolve the dispute.
Because the funds associated with a disputed transaction may be held until the situation is resolved, it is in your best interest to communicate with the buyer as quickly as possible."

  • the weird thing is - now i am negative £100 in my paypal..when, yesterday, i was +£100.

  • ah frick it, i'll just wait a few days....

  • ok i know what happened. Buyer sends me £100. My paypal acct :+100. Withdraw to bank -£100. My new paypal acct : £0.00. Funds 'disputed' : -£100. new paypal balance : -£100. Trip to the cashpoint 1hr ago : +100 cash.

reading all that shit : priceless.

  • Keep the buyer informed. Let them know you are checking with the post office.
Make them feel fscking guilty if they're trying to rip you off.
The box is probably sitting in a depot somewhere waiting for someone to pick it up..

  • is that the postcode you have on the receipt? then you have proof of posting? at least to a group of houses or his street?

  • hippy Keep the buyer informed. Let them know you are checking with the post office.

    absolutely.

my business depends on paypal and the royal mail to a lesser extent, and when you do occasionally get these people, i find being ultra reasonable and apologetic nearly always gets results. Make a deal with them, like -they withdraw the dispute, wait another week, if it hasn't turned up by then, then you can refund/go abck to dispute.

  • alright thanks chaps

  • i bet he's got it already seen it wasnt sent recorded and therefore cannot be proved to be delivered and decided to get his money back too. Only explanantion for him to recall the money only after 6 days. he's a wanker.

  • Was his address within the M25?

Let's ride over as a group and have tea with the fellow.
