Dynamo training

  • My idea of training is generally to just do it. It does nothing do increase my stamina, but it greatly increases your pain tolerance over time. I intend to do no training for the Dynamo, but will probably enter one Audax event between now and then. I will probably want to do it geared, since it looks like there is a fair amount of climbing. Is anyone else interested in sharing the pain between now and then? I think I’ll stick to 200 k until the dynamo, but will probably want to increase that afterwards.

Fixedwheelnut, any ones you recommend coming up?

  • How fast were you going for 30min? Sounds like TOO FAST.

  • Are you riding down? :)

  • It'll be good training. Take a few days off work/school/whatever and ride down. Schweet!

  • i know it mught sound stupid but try cross training for fitness, i think i'll get myself at the swimming pool or something like that just to improve my endurance performance, mycardiovascular work is covered.

  • and i'm not gonna go fast, ride in a pack.

I cross train like mad. I do curls with pints (for strength, mattress yoga (for exoticism), yawning (to stretch), and bellybutton lint picking (for concentration).

  • heh, and also the bike i have at the moment is a better size than my previous one...hopefully i won't strain my inner thight at around the 50th mile, as i did on the L2B....i cross my fingers

Nothing like time on the bike. You worried about the DD? Ride.
Go out and ride 50 one night this week. Ride 80mi on Sunday. Do short rides through the week, commuting, whatever.
Next weekend do a 90-100mi ride. Then the week prior to DD, no more long rides but keep doing smaller rides and no sprinting!
    Easy peasy lemon squeezy!

  • Lanterne Rouge baby! aka DFL aka DEAD FSCKING LAST! It's a high honour!

  • aaaah you're a tipycal 9to5'er...where am i gonna get the time to do all that, i like fixed gear bikes, that's all i own. No 21 gears jibba jabba. I'll do the Dynamo for the challenge.
but i'll ride as much as i can.

  • 18 on the Ribble actually.. but I was planning on riding the Soma now the Etape challenge has passed.. only problem is the feckin' headset and total lack of time on the bike. Changing between three diferent sized bikes is not recommendedededed..

If I worked 9 to 5 they would drop me down to part-time.
