• I would like to see prices listed as well.

• it's about a million time better than the condor website.

i quite like the site. without a database of inventory, i think it gives the user enough information to go into the shop and see what they've got.

• What's on the discobleak.co.uk domain? Just the web2.0 star thing? Can you not move it to your domain?

• Roberto
smeear(smeear) its made in iweb if im not mistaken?

Do i have to get the iLife to have the iWeb? Do you have a copy of it?
i also have a copy of ilife if you want a copy mr,
but i think its a bit rubbish, i just tends to annoy me if you want to do something that isnt there design!

jonaent (Jon) I did not use iWeb! I coded it by hand.... all my hard work gone un-noticed ;-)....

i was just playing, i really like the bold look of you,ve gone for, i have seen some other websites you have designed (i think? leaf, right?)

• Stef top right, premium alluminium fully customisable frame. not dissing the fact that is a langster though.

That's some Japanese alloy frames that they had in a while ago.... They are not allowed to sell anything Specialized due to their proximity to CycleSurgery.

Yes, thanks for reminding me.

kowalski Not wishing to be rude, but the photography is so weak it undermines the site.

Money is a big issue to such a new shop so paying a photographer is not top of their list - they have a digital camera so do it themselves..... I suppose what you see is what you get, it's the sort of ethos they like there. No pretenses, plus, they have a lot of second hand stuff that sells very quickly and that's another reason not to get in a pro photographer. Time will tell, perhaps if the site brings them good business we'll up-grade to much better picstures. PhotoBen has already offered.

I hear you.

I only meant that the site looks really neat and the photography isn't up to the standard of the design.

Just don't get me started on the number of photographers put out of business by pocket digital cameras...

• Im a photographer (the pocket camera brigade haven't put me out of business yet.) and IME it's not viable for any shop to employ me to shoot unless the images are going to be in use for at least a year for example condor when then they change their colours etc for the next years catalogue the images are going to be out there for a whole year and used in the press for PR etc, if a bike is going to be sold after a few weeks it's not worth the trouble, a bit different if you are selling a new model that is exclusive to the shop, this is when good photography pays off.
there is nothing worse than reading about a potential new bike but you can only find crappy pics of it.

I do shoot bikes/frames in the studio for a mates small bike company, it's not as easy as you think to get them looking nice.

• MrSmith I do shoot bikes/frames in the studio for a mates small bike company, it's not as easy as you think to get them looking nice.

My point exactly.

• DSLR and some interesting angles can be okay for showing off a bike.
Just make sure the site is fast loading and make sure the important stuff is there and obvious (phone#, opening hours and address is what gets hit and what allows people to visit and spend!)
Galleries of bikes can be found everywhere. It seems broken now - are you updating it?

• Very slow..

ok whatever but they had a '07 Langster frame hangin up around april, then build it up for some courier with straigh bars and all, saw it with me own eyes .

• Yes I remember that one, a brown one. I think it was one on the sly. I tried to sell them my Girlfriend's Langster but they wouldn't buy it as a bike because of the CycleSurgery thing - I always thought that sort of stuff was illegal.... but seemingly it's Specialized saying that only CycleSurgery can sell rather than CycleSurgery themselves which seems to make it ok (?)

• ok but why london fields cycles sell them ? along with brixton cycles, condor, evans?

• Proximity? Buying power? There's already a CS and Evans at one end of Brick Lane (Spitalfields) so Specialized wont sell through another that they deem too close. Otherwise they all undercut each other and no one wins.
Like a Maccas chain wont set up another unless they deem there's a market for it. Otherwise it'd be a waste of advertising, setup, etc. if all the business went elesewhere anyway and the new store failed.
It may have been a used frame they sold - it doesn't make much sense if it came from Specialized themselves.

• 'snot quite the case.

Cycle Surgery in Holborn can't sell Spesh because of existing Spesh sellers in the area, ie Condor and Evans.

Maybe it's first come first served.

is that why there are two cycle sugery in the spitafields area?
and they both sell spacialized

I suspect the older of the two will be closed down when its lease expires.

Putting some sizes on the photos of the more expensive frames might not be a bad touch.

• If you go into the Evans in Spitalfields u won't see any Specialized, they can't sell either - when we bought the Langster we went there first and they said only CycleSurgery in that area - Brick Lane told me the same when I asked them if they could get one in. To be honest I don't think the Guys at Brick Lane would stock Specialized even if they could - Langster's not really their thing they like it real traditional in there. You should see some of the frames they brought back from Italy that are in the basement waiting to be built. Perfect condition!

• See.. told yaz! :P

Can someone wheelbarrow me to the shop from Broadgate? I so can't be arsed walking down there..

• great stuff jon, been waiting for the site to go live for ages!

maybe you can just do a bit of levels in photoshop to give the images a little bit more contrast?

yeah i also think everything's a little bit big. particularly the headers are taking up quite a bit of space you don't see much content above "the fold", i find myself scrolling a lot for the amount of content there.

apart from these, great job!

• do brick lane stock nitto? after 123aa bars with nitto ahead stem prices would be good please

• Call 'em: 02070339053

• Or CONdor. Or Brixton Cycles.
