I think the Windsor Hour bikes are rebranded Fuji Track bikes, maybe with some different components.

i'd say you better increase your budget to at least 150. don't really think there are any fixies for sale at the £50 mark and you probably can't get anything that's worth buying under 150 - need to fix many things up and replace parts and stuff.

if there was a fixed for sale for £50 it would already be sold

Thats what i didn't want to here, hahaha.
Has anyone ordered from http://www.bikesdirect.com/products/windsor/thehour.htm before??
They don't ship to the UK but there should be a way around it...
Anyone?

They do ship to the UK, but it's an extra £150 plus UK vat, customs etc. when it gets here. So you're looking at at least £250. The Fuji Track is £300 over here, so just get ones of those. Track bikes simply aren't very cheap. A conversion is the best way to go for getting a cheap fixed gear.

Mate don't do that, seriosuly. A friend of mine bought a bike from the US, and he spent like £90 of customs when the bike arrived in the UK.
Plus the bike was shipped in 3 boxes (wheels, frame and parts) and shipping was like £100.
In the end, he paid nearly £600 to have a rubbish bike!!!

Bloody heck!
Thats put me right off, haha.
Gonna have to find something im starting to fiend for one way too hard!

this gets mentioned quite often: a decent wheelset will probably be the most expensive part of your bike. expect a good set to run you about £90-110 for the pair.

Check out Robertos fixe for sale in the other thread, I've been looking for a while for my first fixie and believe me it's a good price. I've decided to go down the build-my-own route, and I'm still setting myself a budget of 300-350! Check out ebay, when i bought my frame there was a just-built fixie sitting at the £100 mark, you might be able to jump in when the auction finishes and take it for about £150. Probably a little more though. search for fixed gear and you should find it. looks quite nice!

300-350 is realistic once you include all the bits and bobs
when i got my 1st fix i thought i could do it all super cheap but the truth
is, if you want something that you can actually ride without it falling apart
and you don't already have a garage full of spare parts/ tools lying around
(yeah that's what they don't mention when they say "i built this fix up for $20")get 2nd hand miche cranks or something, new mich bb is only £12, shitty old bars/pedals
/seatpost/saddle/brake (easily upgradable later)
buy a frame with a working headset in it...like hovis says- the wheelset will cost you minimum 80 unless you do the glueing a cassette
thing... in which case - well let's not go there on this forum! ; 0you can get a pair of Formula flip/ flop hubs laced to XR300 deep section V rims built into a pair of
wheels for £140 from kiwicycles.com - Paul who runs it works in London and is a decent bloke
who has built many many fixies and who wont rip you off.also i've seen some half decent fixed wheelers going on gumtree for the 300 mark recently
i think.Good luck!
ps. if you cant afford it now buy a cheap geared bike off gumtree and with the money you save
on travel cards in 3 months you'll have enough for a £300 fix! -

The travel card is the major reason for me buying a fixed!
The week that i go without topping that damn thing up i'll be soo pleased.
I'm new here so i don't know whether there's a section for this somewhere else.
I was just wondering does anyone know of anyone selling a cheap 55/56 fixie for like 50 quid or something?
I just need something to get used to the whole fixed gear thing.
I was going to buy a Windsor The Hour from a US based store does anyone know anything about it?
Thanks again,
T
