London Sirens

Posted on
  • Most of us here have been to at least another city in Europe or the rest of the world right?
and has anyone ever noticed how london's ambulance, polices cars and fire brigade are so bloody loud?
i've been to many big cities asnd never had to shut my ears as a siren passed by, the traffic isn't a good enough excuse as Milan's or Jakarta for instance are way worse than London's.
So who agrees with mwe and thinks that the loudness of this city's sirens is unecessarely painfully loud?

  • They're loud if you're in front of them. I really appreciate the way our sirens are directed like that.

And I'm deeply disappointed this thread isn't about the other type of sirens that London has.

  • In Amsterdam the sirens are crazy-loud. Maybe it's just because all the streets are so small that you're closer to them, but when one passes you have to stop riding and grab your ears.

  • Man is hard to spend one hour without hear the sounds of a siren, damn terrorist attacks!

  • They aren't allowed use them constantly in Ireland. They can put them on when someone doesn't move out of the way but otherwise they travel with just the lights flashing on an emergency run. I really hate waking up at 2am to see an ambulance roll past sirens blaring through empty streets!

  • there are more than three sirens in london, david. how many on bikes, i don't know.

  • I love the sirens in Germany. They remind me of 70's cop shows

  • The blonde with long curly hair and fantastic sunglasses who rides a dark coloured Miyata geared bike is truly a siren.

  • Anyone here live in east london? Emergency service sirens are out equivalent of the dawn chorus...

  • I am Londons siren and you all know it

  • just when i thought you couldn't look any sexier...

  • velocity boy The blonde with long curly hair and fantastic sunglasses who rides a dark coloured Miyata geared bike is truly a siren.

i think we already covered the girl on the pink bike....

  • i though it was a red bike?

  • pink wheels? i know she was on the forum for about ten minutes replying to the posts and was never seen again (online).

  • No pink bike, no pink wheels. It was a geared miyata.

  • i think we're talking of two different people. ah well...

  • No, not ah well... it's a thing to celebrate.

  • true true. perhaps we might see them at the TdF tomorrow. along with a million other spectators.

  • Yes! I knew there was a reason I was going along!

Cycling, pft! Who needs that? Fat bottomed girls, that's where it's at.

  • they make the rocking world go 'round.
