errr whats that all about??

now, what's going on here, is that the best you can get it to go, or will it even up in the droputs?
not all frames are 100% spot on at the end of the dropouts

aidan errr whats that all about??
Do you mean you don't see the problem or "what on Earth are thos eScouse clowns up to?"
The top of the wheel is too near the left seatstay, whilst the bottom is too near the right chainstay. -
• #5
Do some dropout filing, backwards and upwards if necessary (x,y direction).

haaa i saw it....they are fucking idiots..haaa

Yeah, I accept that.
But, no. It won't even out. If you take the weight off and just tighten the track nuts the wheel is always pulled into the driveside chainstay. If you force it to be centred between the chainstays its about 5mm from the nondrive seatstay and 10mm from the drive stay.
If you centre it according to the seatstays it hits the driveside chainstay.
It really is miles out. -

might be a moot point, but how's the dishing on the wheel?
-
• #9
there is some muppetry afoot..did someone jump up and down on it?
it's re-track time

Hovis Brown might be a moot point, but how's the dishing on the wheel?
I stuck it in arse about face and it made no difference.
RPM there is some muppetry afoot..did someone jump up and down on it?
it's re-track timeEr, no. It's Amtrak time. This is a brand new frame.

indeed.
another frame if you please, Mr Dolan.

they are made of recycled shell suits waddya expect!!

Blimey.
The welding doesn't look very clean and tidy, either.
-
• #16
wow that's really bad for a dolan... what's wrong with QA these days... they obviously didn't even check the frame before they sent it to you. did they have those plastic blocks where they stick in between the track ends when it arrived?
but i guess if your wheel is true and if it doesn't line up with both chainstay and seatstay no matter what you do then sthg's really wrong with the tubes they cut. -
• #17
eeehhhh Blimey.
The welding doesn't look very clean and tidy, either.
old school steel frames i swear by... and lugs even better than TIG welding.
-
• #18
just send the frame back, make a huuuuuuge deal about the thing and you may end up a winner
-
• #19
Tell them that you have posted the pictures on the biggest/newest/coolest fg/ss forum in London and now we all hate Dolan - they're are bound to help you out then :-)

Well, this what they've told me.
There aren't any more frames in my size for a few weeks. They've offered to track this one and return it in 48hrs.
Do I accept or just tell them to stick it?
Is getting the frame tracked a bad thing?

Sorry forgive my ignorance but what material is it made of?
If it is Alu (which from the welds it looks like) Alu must be bent very soon after any heating process like welding. Many types of ALu require baking in an oven post manufacture or are air hardened depending on wheather it is 7000 series or 6000 series alu (I can't remember which way round). Ever the air hardened stuff after a few days becomes problematic do any kind of bending without damaging the structual integrity of the metal.
Now this is all assuming whan they say tracked the mean align, which withoug cutting and rewelding I can only see being done by cold setting by some form. They may have a big oven to bring the frame up to temp to realign I don't know and I don't know how aluminim react to being reheated and how it effects the hardening.
I am no metalologist so do not quote me on the details of this any anyone is welcome to correct me, but if it was me I would find out how they intended to track the frame. Unless there was a very good method out there I would be temped to send it back and get a new one and ask for some compensation.

send it back
-
• #23
Tell them to track it and then get a new one when they're in stock in your size.
Just kick up a huge fuss, they'll give in on the basis that they can't be arsed to argue with you any more!

maybe the courier company shagged it up any come back on those guys ?
-
• #25
what about getting a refund and getting another frame? or are you really set on the Dolanage?
The current state of Project Dolan.
For a frame that hasn't been crashed or had an anvil dropped on it it's feckin way out.
"Calm down, calm down, eh?"
