Good idea! That means I gotta go shopping for nail varnish huh? Could get some lipstick while I'm there I guess!
Do you think that's better than model paint? -

Probably not, but it is made of the same sorta chemicals. And it comes a fair amount of colours.

dicki ( julian ) go to halfords and get car touch up paint
i second that one. the car enamel they sell is pretty good and lasts for a long time (i painted blotches of chewing gum with it and it lasted for a year). two handy applicators (squirty point and brush). plus they do metallics and pearlescents.

I'm trying to get a lilac and it's proving tough. The model shop had loads of enamels but nothing close. I went on a mission to get nail varnish and couldn't find the right colour either. I was told I'd have to use lots of coats of nail varnish. I need a thick enamel gloss. I'll try halfords but again might struggle with the colour. Don't want to mix it myself. Do people paint their cars lilac?!

With any enamel, building up coats is better than glooping on one thick coat. it will ensure the surface is more even and tougher. as for lilac...if you're good at mixing colours, just get two tubes of the automotive enamel and mix it yoursel in a different dish. not sure if anyone does enamels to order (via pantone or otherwise).

Unfortunately I dont own a pantone book. I do design and illustrate though and could do with one as I've had t-shirts printed in the past and the colours been a bit off. I have a colour match in the form of a paint book sample but aint sure if I can get enamel mixed. If I can it'd probably have to be a big pot. I might go back on the hunt for nail varnish!

how much are you wanting to mix? are you touching up the odd spot or are you going to repaint something larger?
I've aquired an old track frame which is in need of a good touch-up!
I'm not going to get a full respray at the moment as it's not too bad.
However, some cleverclogs touched up the lavender frame with black paint!
I have a stripe of black round the head tube where it meets the forks and also on and around the BB.
Anyone recommend a good paint to use? Car or model paint?
How about places to buy the paint?
I'm in the East-end and around Central.
Was thinking the model shop on Shaftesbury Ave?
Any tips, info, suggestions?
Thanks guys...
