    Lpg you said you are studdying enginering. DO you have access to any of the machine shops? All you need is a drill ress really.

    Take tw0 bits of metal plate say 15mm by 50 mm, drill a 10 mm hole in one end for your rear axel and a whatever mm size hole for the bottom fixing point of your rack. In an ideal world if the rack has two lower fixing points bolt both of these to your rack to creat a secure extension otherwise you would need to allow the bracket to continue up the stay of the rack for say 20 mm and attach a u-bolt round the stay and bracket. If it is not clear I can try and draw a picture but you could also pop down to Gower Place and I could explain it easy on paper.
