  • as i said in the other discussion i planned to do something to show my appriciation to graham for giving me the fort.he asked if i could donate money to a cystic fibrosis charity, while walking the bike home i thought that wasn't enough so i decided i would attempt to organize a charity event to raise proper money and to raise awareness to the effects of the disease.

its a fucking long shot but i'm quite determined to do it.i have a few ideas,like....an alley cat,a bike polo session,a long distance ride and maybe some music.i would appreciate any help you people can offer and any ideas you have.

i spoke to flow about it,he said that it maybe better to do it in september for a few reasons: he's back from his little adventure then and during the summer there's going to ba a lot of people away attending other events.i would like to do it during the summer just because of the weather advantages.

like i said any suggestions/help would be much appriciated.

  • How about a roller race!? Ask winston how much it is to hire them, maybe he might except payment or part payment after the event to help out with cash flow?

  • What about a ride to Brighton.. i'm sure that's never been done before..

Seriously though, anything involving a ride is good. A ride or polo session is easier to organise - it kinda sorts itself out.
e.g. Just print maps and ask for a donation to get the map. Maybe bbq at the end or something.

  • very noble aidan anything i can do to help let me know

  • yeah, i'll be up for lending a hand

  • Yeah Rollers! :D

  • tommy thats a good idea,thanks.
thanks julian,it would be much appriciated

  • 31trum yeah, i'll be up for lending a hand

    thanks!!!:)

  • yeah, nice gesture aidan.

i reckon a ride where we get sponsorship or just pay an entrance fee.

or a LFGSS roller session would be nice.

  • i think the roller session would be good because people could watch it

  • I think you could have a small entrace fee into the building and a race fee for those who want to race, a structured heats rounds and so untill the finals, some smoe prize for the winners. Plus sell beer, I am not sure how difficult it is for a one off event with regulations e.t.c to think off. If a town hall is licensed is it usually the town hall who has to sell the beer? I am not sure how the law works on this one.

  • i think a roller race is a good idea. there are loads of pubs that will rent out their upstairs/back bit for free providing that we have a minimum number of drinkers. entry fee for racing and i think the rest will follow.

an indoor event wouldn't be hampered by shltty weather either. now, we just need to get some rollers...

good idea, aidan, by the way. what i like about this fgss forum is that the members tend to take care of each other.
