benthebrummie hello all. new to this forum so thought i'd say 'hello' moved to the big smoke a few weeks ago, wanted a fixie for ages and moving here is fuelling the urge even more, going to take the plunge at the end of the month when i get paid. not sure whether to buy an old frame and make one myself or buy a new bike.... like the bianchi pista, specialized langster or pearson touche... always been into bikes but still a novice in terms of all things fixed so any opinions etc of said bikes would be cool. BTW - is the bianchi better because its steel? i want a flip flop hub is that possible with all 3 bikes?
Pista looks cool but italian bike made in taiwan with steel? not columbus...i'm not sure plus you're gonna want to change a few bits here and there so it's going to end up being expensive.
Langster...don't bother you'll get discriminated for just having one even though it comes with lifetime warranti on the frame, and carbon forks, if you don't mind compact geometry take one for a spin this one comes with a fli-flop
Touche...dunno anthing about it, what i know is that if you want to get an off the peg fixie go for a Genesis Flyer or Lemond FIllmore if you're looking for steel or Langster if want alluminium
