With you on that one. I love the way mercians are brazed in a harth with gas straight from the pipe. It makes the hole prosses seem so mysticle.

It's European. It has a lot of style. Europe is good.

Well that is the thing, I can get a new Keirin frame if I really really want one, but I can have a handbuilt Mercian for half the price, the Keirin frames are going for stupid money right now, and I have a feeling that this time next year, they are going to be alot cheaper as more and more frames come onto the market and as people figure how to buy them up and sell them on ebay. So I am happy to bide my time on a Keirin. In the meantime though I am flying to Derbyshire on Monday to talk to Mercian about building a retro track bike. Something for the weekend sir....? an old school english fixed wheel racer for street or for track, a different kettle of fish to a Keirin racer, less exotic maybe , but equally sublime. Mercian build quality is unsurpassed in my mind.

The tommasini is so sweet , damn those Italians, you look at Italian bikes and you start to see where Mercian got there inspiration from 'super vigorelli' or 'strada speciale '

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder but one of these bikes is 'styling'
while the other one is rather 'sensible'picking a tourer with mudgaurds and a rack against a track bike is hardly a good comparison is it?
Robin Mather makes some beautiful bikes, i would rather have one of his custom frames than an off the peg japanese frame.

I'm thinking of selling my Samson if the price is right. I broke my arm 6 weeks ago and was due to finally get back to work today, but then i go and damage my ankle at the weekend. Not sure how much longer I'll be out for... and the Samson is just gathering dust here!
whisper me for details.

Nitto/Sugino parts on a British handbuilt frame, with a brooks saddle....? this bike is having an identity crises
-
• #49
na its just multicultral!

Nitto are British anyway, founded by Lord Henry Nitto (Earl of Basingstoke) in 1897
Just ride the fucker!!
these keirin frames are equisite, especially the nagasawa's.
but there are so many amazing english frame builders. i'd rather have a jackson, mercian or witcomb.
